The only thing they knew in life was the Facility. Until, that is, the true nature of Project One Percent was uncovered. The general populace thought that the Project was simply genetic mapping, figuring out what the differences between animals and humans were. But the reality was far more sinister. Human children, cloned embryos, were injected with sequences of animal DNA and cultured, in essence, in a synthetic womb. Without a mother and without a father; they had only the Facility. As the children got older they were subject to tests to see which animal traits were the best. Most were found unsatisfactory and killed or otherwise disposed of. Those who remained were subject to crueler and crueler tests. More batches of freak-children were made. The last batch was finished five years before the Facility was exposed. One of the older children within the facility had figured out how to broadcast a security camera onto the national news channel. Of course that child was killed off, but the secret was out, and thousands of rioters stormed the facility. The rioter’s intentions were not good, however. They killed many of the scientists, but also many of the children. “Freak-children,” the rioters called them, “Undeserving of life.” And they killed them. But they didn’t check the whole facility. A few children, the ones in the middle of tests or recovering from them, were overlooked. They cowered in the test rooms for a week, until hunger drove them out of the wreckage of the facility and into the wilderness. A week after the escape is where we meet our characters. They have made their home in a cave in the side of a mountain. This RP will be about their struggles to survive Nature’s wrath and to stay hidden from humanity while still getting the supplies they need. They have to shapeshift into their animals in order to hide. As far as the shapeshifting, usually they don’t have control over it until they’re at least seven years old, but experiences of intense stress or pain or fear may make them involuntarily shift earlier. If any of you remember back on OldGuild, an RP very similar to this (under the same title) was GMed by Aiko. Unfortunately, I do not think she rejoined the site after the crash, and I used to be in this RP and I really missed it. Rules: Max number of characters: 5. If you want/think you can manage more, then you can make an appeal. Please, no bugs. Birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. No fungi or plantae, please, unless you have a REALLY good reason for it. And no fish. Fish would just be impractical no matter how you slice it. Similarly, keep the creatures macroscopic. I don’t want to have to keep track of a swarm of tardigrade children. Please be nice to each other. Fighting is unacceptable and will result in the party that initiated it being kicked out of the roleplay. Post all CSes in the Characters tab.
