[@Teal] In what context? Carter read comic books as a kid and they inspired him to be a cop and then later to do the whole superhero thing when he got his powers. Do you mean like actual Marvel and DC comics existing in this universe? If so, then I don't really see a problem with that as long they're kept strictly to fiction within the universe. If you're asking if any other superheroes were active before the explosion, then the answer is no. The Meta-Humans born from the incident are meant to the first generation of superheroes and/or super villains in this universe.
