"I'm the district manager at one of the local Waffle Houses," Brandon said, his eyes scanning the street and houses for any threat. In one window he saw a Walker banging at the window. It appeared to be stuck in the house, but Brandon didn't want to take any chances and he ushered the group to move a bit more quickly to get away from the area.

"I work there," Lydia added as she looked over her shoulder at the two. "Waitress, host, cook, you name it. I even do inventory and place orders."

Brandon grinned as he said, "Lydia's one of my best workers. I can count on her for everything." The praise caused Lydia to beam proudly as she was happy to hear that she was considered important in their work.

"We're friends outside of work as well," Brandon went on. Then suddenly realizing that Francis might take it the wrong way he quickly added, "Strictly friends."

"We like the same things," Lydia explained as she shift Peter to her other side. "Video games, renaissance fairs, weapons. It's definitely a good thing for the last two right now. We were at a renaissance fair earlier today, which is why we had our bows and knives in the car."

"Nice so just friends?" Francis walked on with the group and saw a light blue van "Hey guys over there" he pointed and ran over to it and stopped he stood at one end of the backdoors "So the plan is Brandon you and me push open the doors and shoot if it's 'Dead' sound good to you?" He whipped out his gun and stared at Brandon and nodded "3..2..1" he counted down with his fingers and the two pushed open the doors

Brandon pulled out his gun, flicking the safety off, and prepared to shoot. No Walkers stumbled out, much to everyone's relief. However, there was someone sitting in the driver's seat. The woman didn't move, even when Brandon called out. Cautiously he went to the driver's door and opened it. The woman was older, about in her fourties or fifties. Her head was lolled to one side, her eyes closed, her body limp and arms splayed at her side. She didn't seem to have any injuries, but when Brandon checked her pulse there was none."

"She's dead," Brandon declared. "She doesn't have any visible wounds, so maybe a heart attack or something."

Lydia came to stand beside Brandon and peered at the woman curiously. She thought for a moment, then made a decision, though it was a bit hard.

"We should make sure she stays dead," Lydia decided. "We don't know how this thing works--how people are turning into zombies. It's better to take precautions."

"You think we should destroy the brain?" Brandon asked.

Lydia nodded. "I think we should destroy the brain. But let's do it quietly. We don't know if noise draws those things, and we need to conserve ammo. A knife should do."
