Would anyone be interested in participating in a Dragon Age inspired roleplay covering the parts of Thedas not previously seen in the games (Nevarra, Antiva, Rivain, Par Vollen, etc.)

The adventure would be set after the events of Inquisition, but the actual state of the world will be discussed between any interested players before the roleplay begins, and decisions such as who rules Ferelden, whether the Architect is still alive and what happened with the Red Lyrium idol will be set in place at that point.

As GM I'll set up a Dragon Age Keep-style record of the backstory before the roleplay starts so everyone knows the state at that time. All that I'll say for now is that:

The party will consist of a mercenary band recently in the employ of the Inquisition but now with the Corypheus crisis averted they're moving north to find new work. The members of the party can come from any background within the races seen in Thedas (Human, Dwarf, Elf, Kossith, Darkspawn, etc.) and while I won't impose limits on what combination of powers they may have I would prefer that they limit themselves to Skills, Spells, Talents and Abilities previously seen in the Dragon Age universe. Having said that, if you'd like to play as a rogue mage with a greatsword feel free to combine powers from all those available to craft your perfect character, as long as they don't contravene established lore (no Dwarven mages, for instance.)

I'd be looking for committed players able to post at last once every couple of days, and anyone not posting at least once a week would be considered to have fallen into the Deep Roads and been killed by Darkspawn... or at least hopefully killed by them.

I'm interested. However, I haven't played inquisition (PC can't run it nor do I have the next gen consoles) or Dragon Age 2 (I tried but didn't like its gameplay). However, I LOVE DA:O and its world. I am still new to forum rps, though I have rped before via pathfinder and post by post rping for a few years now. So, it'll be a learning experience for this style of rping.

Very interested, would defenitly love to see this go up, Also would there be there be ever a moment if said party needs to actually return to those we do know, like

Example(s):

Skyhold - Aid Request (The Inquisitor requested aid against a eluvious force in Emprise Du Lion that has built it's army up and managed to bar down on the inquisition heavly.

Emerald Graves - Freeman opposition was never settled and they've now conquered nearly all of the Emerald graves, the army of Orlas failed retak it through brute force, and require the help of two different parties.

Storm Coast - Rumor spreads of a group of Qunari have been spotted on the coast, said to have come straight out of Par Vollen, looking for something and to have struck down anyone in their path, so to speak.

These are just some examples, would there ever be anything like this or would it mainly depended and consist on were the RP goes??

Since we're going where no elf has gone before there's no real requirement to know the backstories of the games, other than the general idea that great calamities have recently been averted. In extreme cases you can just ask me directly for anything you're not sure of, or just check out the wiki.

These are just some examples, would there ever be anything like this or would it mainly depended and consist on were the RP goes??

The plan is for the party to basically wander around looking for trouble. I have some plots already planned out, but if the party decides they'd rather head in a different direction I'll be happy to adapt the story for the events, rather than forcing people to stick to a pre-planned script. Mainly I'm looking to get us away from what's already canon, so we can have a little freedom to explore possible stories without tripping over what's already happened.

If there's any ideas you'd particularly like to explore please feel free to PM me with details and we can plan subplots behind everyone else's back. XD

For those still interested, I am still planning on running this RP but as other things are taking up my time right now it probably won't be starting for another couple of weeks.

Basic Information

Name: Or however people generally address your character
Species: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Kossith1, Awakened2, Spirit3, Golem4
Age:
Gender:
Class: Mage, Rogue, Warrior or any combination of the three
Appearance:
Curriculum Vitae

Specialisations: Any combination of those available in the Dragon Age universe. A maximum of five can be selected and at least one of those should be from the same class as your character.
Notable Traits: Does your character have any quirks, mannerisms or habits which make them stand out from the rest of the population of Thedas?
Flaws: Character defects, past injuries or other details which may hamper your character during the adventure, or act as plot hooks for me to work with.
Skills: The main abilities your character tends to rely on the most. The list needn't be exhaustive as all characters with be presumed to be able to perform basic actions automatically.
Backstory

Biography: How did your character end up where they are today, working for a ragtag mercenary company seeking work across northern Thedas.
Personality and/or Motivation: Who is your character and what drives them to continue living the life of a mercenary.
Player’s long term goals: Whether your character's aim in life is to rule a kingdom, become the richest person in Thedas or breed a prize-winning nug, this section lets you set a goal for them to try to live up to.
Relations: Whether your character is associated with any of the others in the party, with any characters, groups, gangs or official organisations of note in Thedas. All characters are assumed to be associated with the mercenary company we're playing as, and have worked with the Inquisition recently, so these needn't be included.
Secrets: Is there anything your character is trying to hide from the rest of the group, or which they themselves are not aware which could affect the party in some way?

1 - The big creatures who are the main followers of the Qun and generally refer to themselves as "Qunari". No distinction is made here to to whether your character is Qunari, Vashoth or Tal-Vashoth and this should be noted in the 'Relations' section below.
2 - Darkspawn follow of The Architect which has managed to regain a portion of its own willpower. It's upto the player to decide just how much willpower they have, but the character should at least be sentient and self-aware.
3 - Any creature which originated in the Fade, or magical creature born Fade-touched would be considered to be a Spirit. No distinction is made as to whether they are a friendly spirit or an aggressive demon and the player should give details of this in the rest of their profile as appropriate. Possessed characters should only be identified as spirits if the spirit is the dominant personality for the character, as with Justice.
4 - Players should note whether their character is an ancient golem from Orzammar or one of the 'new' golems created by Branka using the Anvil of the Void during the events of Dragon Age: Origins.

As much as I'm interested. I only just got Inquisition, and I'm told the Story is easily 100+ hours if totally blind playthrough, So, I need a lot to do as a gamer who takes his time in rpgs.

But I will keep this in my interest tab.

Hroot .
Heartwood of the Forest
Basic Information

Species: Spirit/Golem (Elf?)
Age: ~850
Gender: Female
Class: Mage/Warrior
Appearance:
As a spirit Hroot lacks a form of her own and instead shapes any tree she inhabits into a vaguely feminine form as best as she can. When made of wood, Hroot can move about by forming legs and walking just as any other humanoid would, but at the end of each day she must drink water and lay down roots to keep herself healthy.
Curriculum Vitae

Specialisations:Notable Traits:
Woodland Possession: While Hroot's usual form is that of a spirit she has the ability to force-grow a tree form in moments, allowing her to interact with the physical world when required. When she does this she loses her more magical abilities but gains strong physical based abilities instead. If her wooden form is ever destroyed Hroot reverts back to her spirit form and may not regrow another tree form until she has fully rested.
Hroot has no way of voluntarily releasing herself from her wooden form and can only return to her spirit form when her wooden shell is destroyed. Because of this she prefers to only enter a wooden body when it is absolutely required, preferring to remain incorporeal until such time she is needed.
Flaws:
Wisp On The Wind: In her spirit form Hroot has very little protection from harmful magics and can easily be dissipated if struck with enough magical force. She will reform over time, but until her spiritual shell is restored all Hroot can do is whisper encouraging words to her comrades.
Woodland Sprite: Hroot has a very strong connection to woodland and trees, but can feel weak when away from them. If she takes on her tree form in arid or harsh environments it will be brittle and dry, taking damage more easily unless nurtured and cared for properly.
Abyssmal Lure: As she can only use her Pull of the Abyss ability when in her spiritual form Hroot is also vulnerable to its effects. Whenever she uses the ability her spirit form is shattered by the force, leaving her in the weakened state just as she would be if her form had been dissipated in any other way.
Skills:
Backstory

Biography:
While it is unknown how the entity known as Hroot came to be what is known is that she has existed in her current form since at least the time of the Second Exalted March and claims to be the soul of an unrighteously slaughter elf who was hung from a tree in the Emerald March by Orlesian soldiers simply for the crime of being elven. Unable to rest peacefully the soul wandered the woods for years watching its kinsfolk being slaughtered by the invaders without being able to do anything to stop them. Finally a tree spirit agreed to share its body with the bondless soul, taking the soul into itself. Unfortunately the act of kindness led to the two spirits merging together to create a new combined protective spirit of the woods.
Personality and/or Motivation:
Hroot is driven by the urge to protect those who cannot protect themselves, although her inhuman nature means she cannot always understand when her help is neither desired nor required causing her to sometime attack others in confusion when she doesn't understand people's actions and misperceives them as attacks. She has an inherent hatred for Orlesians and will only help them with reluctance, if at all.
Player’s long term goals:
As a spirit Hroot is trying to find her true place in the world, or failing that return to the Fade where she truly belongs. Any opportunities to explore her true nature and purpose will be greatly appreciated.
Relations:
While Hroot has strong ties to the woods she once called her home, all the people she knew in life are long since dead and now her only ties are to the mercenaries in her company, whom she's sworn to protect.
Secrets:
Hroot is not truly an elven soul at all, but a spirit of Memory created by the violence and bloodshed of the Exalted March against the Dales. As such there is a danger of her becoming a Rage demon should she ever be exposed to the truth about the crimes which were committed during that time.

@Genni

Is that allowed? I know she's covered, but her panties are see through, even if you can see the tattoo on the other side?

Species Qunari Mage Tal Vashoth
[b]Age[/b} 35 years old
Gender: Male
Class Honestly the distinction between warrior and some mages like Hawke is gone. Not even an Arcane Warrior/Knight Enchanter. My character is a large, brutishly strong and mentally much stronger. He fights with a Mage Staff, of course. He fights with the Force, Storm, Creation, his specializations is Shapeshifting.
Appearance:

"If Dorian calls me a handsome Devil or Desire Demon one more time, I'll kill him him. I mean it. With my sword-staff, if I don't cast a thunderspell at his groin. Maybe that would do".

Species Qunari Mage Tal Vashoth

If I were to get picky about it I'd have to say a Tal-Vashoth Mage would have to have had his horns removed while still under the Qun, since they would've been cut off once <NAME NOT FOUND>'s magical abilities were identified and those things don't grow back once removed, the Ben-Hassrath make sure of that.

If <NAME NOT FOUND> still has his horns then...
  • ...he'd have developed his magics late enough in life not to have been discovered before he managed to turn rogue,
  • ...he was born Vashoth and was never under the Qun before turning rogue,
  • ...something went wrong and the agent assigned to make sure his horns were removed failed to sign the right paperwork and forgot to get the job done (in which case they're probably burning over a fire pit being made to read the Qun very, very slowly in a re-education camp1,)
  • ...he's a one-in-a-million freak whose horns managed to regrow despite the Ben-Hassrath's best efforts,
  • ...he's wearing fake horns to try and hide his mage-y ways.

In other words, if you want the horns be sure to come up with some fluffy reason why he has them and we're good. :)

@ActRaiserTheReturned He fights with the Force, Storm, Creation, his specializations is Shapeshifting.

Which creatures would <NAME NOT FOUND> be able to turn himself into? Just the Spider, Bear and Bees like Morrigan or some other combination? I'd rather get a specific list sorted out early on since having him be able to change into anything during the game would be a little too powerful.

And before you ask, no you can't choose 'dragon' as one of your creatures.

@ActRaiserTheReturned "If Dorian calls me a handsome Devil or Desire Demon one more time, I'll kill him. I mean it. With my sword-staff. If I don't cast a thunder spell at his groin. Maybe that would do."

Sword-staff would be a better choice, the lightning would only 'wake the dragon' and none of us want to see that right now!
Well, I presume none of us do, I know I certainly don't.

PS. I think you might have missed giving <NAME NOT FOUND> a name, I couldn't find one on his Character Sheet. While under the Qun he wouldn't have had one, presuming he was Qunari at some point that is, now he's Tal-Vashoth he can take any name he wants. Except Mr Fluffybottom, that would be a silly name. :D

He could have also mastered healing magic to the point of re-growing his horns. We don't see it in-game, but Creation is one of the hardest schools to master.

Or he could've made a deal with a Desire Demon who likes men with big horns.

Playing as a Tal-Vashoth may cause the party some problems if we get to Par Vollen, but that's just extra meat for the Plot Machine so it's all good. :D

A Qunari conquest of Skyrim would be hilarious. Everyone's name is Sten. The same as before.

Battle reports would be very difficult to write up...

12:32 - Sten, Sten and Sten assaulted the hill under the command of Sten. they faced off against Sten Stenson, Sten Stensonson and Boris the Mighty (known to his friends as Sten.) The Stens were quickly and brutally massacred and the hill is currently in the hands of the Stens.

@Saarebas Not too much, I'll probably be running it as a weekly adventure so as long as you can make a decent contribution at least that often it should be fine.
