[@Inlaa], like you said, both characters are fairly similar in style. Her personality is fairly expected for a roguish character, if a bit on the megalomaniacish side. Regarding her father's death, why did no one bother pursuing her? Even later on in her life? I'd imagine witnesses are the last thing a criminal organization needs. Skills, as stated previously, I'm not a fan of allowing people to have professional level skills, but again, 10 years is a lot of time to do things. Regarding her items- I'm really against giving people magical items at the start of the RP, but I guess if it all it does is glow...
She's definitely intended to be a nastier character than usual. I figured this was as good a thread as any (given the request for flawed characters) to make someone that could be a decent person, maybe, except they've got a nasty combination of ambition, greed, some feelings of superiority, and some bad decision making skills in the mix. Smart, clever? Sure! Talented? Definitely. But she's liable to do things she knows are bad ideas because of pride or wanting to prove she actually is awesome at what she does. Concerning nobody pursuing her: they did, for a time. The trouble was the man that saw her didn't get a great glimpse of her, and while the organization knew her father had a daughter, they eventually called off the search because: 1) months went by and nobody found her, 2) she was a merchant's brat that might not even survive the streets, and 3) if she did eventually turn up, they could off her. They certainly wouldn't have thought some punk thief was actually the man's daughter. (Oh, and you'll notice I've been referring to her by her nickname. I should've written that part in, but: she originally went by Gabriela, but was told "hey, just cut it to Gabby and you'll be safer" by the guild.) Now, all that said: I'm more than happy to go back and make changes if you think I should. The same goes for the dagger and the skills; indeed, I toyed with it not having been enchanted yet, or her having failed to even get the dagger... but I decided to leave the dagger with her in case some headhunting RP was desired. She has a shiny knife and she's darned well going to keep it, even if it's a giant signal that "HEY! There's a wanted lady over here!" Skills: I'd be happy to drop those to Adept, but I thought along the same lines you did. Maybe I could just leave Thievery at Professional? It basically covers cutting purses, picking pockets, picking locks, that sort of thing. Stealth would be her ability to actually hide from bad things, and given her personality... I feel like it's something she'd be fairly, you know, counter to her personality. Worst comes to worst? I can either make an entirely new character (so you don't have two thieves on the table) or revise her to be something different. A few changes in backstory could leave her a character I'd enjoy still. For instance: she could be a young merchant that happens to have a few black market connections through her father; she could be a fledgling mage that thinks she can do whatever the Hell she pleases; or she could have fled to a nunnery (heh) and become a highly learned scholar but one that didn't take to the whole "God / the gods have a plan for all of us" thing too well. Thoughts? Make edits or change the character? It's not too much work either way. EDIT: As an aside, whatever I do with this character, she won't be one of the "heart of gold" types. The point is to have someone that is definitely useful to have around, but is self-centered in the end. She could, potentially, go through character development that makes her more of a, you know, decent person... or she could have her beliefs that everyone else is awful solidified. I just want to have someone that is all about "me" on the onset at the least.
