History: Born in a small town in Massachusetts, Katie was on the receiving end of endless tormenting at the hands of her peers throughout elementary school. She learned to be independent and stay quiet and out of the way of everyone so that she can avoid the taunting of the bullies, but then ended up being ostracized because of how few close friends she had. By the time she reached the beginning of high school, Katie discovered that she had a little bit of a sports talent, but she never tried out for anything out of fear of giving bullies more places to torment her. One day while she was walking home from school, she looked up into the sky and saw an island in the sky and wondered if she was losing her mind. When she got home, her parents had placed a flier on the desk in her room and Katie decided that it couldn’t be worse than what she had gone through in public school.
