Well, I like to discuss things OOC for transparency's sake so everyone can see things as they are and comment or offer suggestions if they feel so inclined. Anyway, you need someone to stand and fight for you, Ajax's your guy. Who else is gonna run up to the murderbeast to try and choke it for you? For free? If you're getting into a mess, Ajax is the buddy you want at your side.

As for his beliefs, striving to be greater than you are is being strong and the strong rule the weak. The nobility who rule entirely by virtue of birth and have an order that favors them are strong, they rule right now, they have control over the people and they are weak for accepting this. Of course it's not a strength, a power as pure as Ajax's but they're there, they have control. If they were to be overthrown, then whoever did so clearly deserves the power and position they get because the nobility couldn't retain control. Once again the strong come to rule over the weak.

From that very top to the bottom. If a murderer gets you, you were weak and he was strong. You could've been stronger, Ajax got stronger. Physically ideally, but with magic, with weapons, by having allies to protect you, money, influence, people should always strive to stand on top and it's inevitable that there will be those that wind up underneath, they should in turn also strive to stand on top. It's a wholly egalitarian outlook, no one has anything granted ever and they should always try to be the most they can be.
