@McHaggis I am curious, is it easier for Alistair to keep the thoughts of others out while high? Or does the influence make it more difficult?

@phoebas I think if the person reading minds is high, probably harder to do so...If the person getting read is high, probably easier cause they would be less able to defend against it. I would say anything that inhibits your ability to focus would make it harder to read someones mind.

@McHaggis Interesting... Hannah has a similar problem but took the opposite approach (hyper-vigilance and tee-totalling) If Alistair finds anything that works he should let her know. :)

Haha I know. I was also thinking that since Alistair has a little empathetic ability as well, the pair could have some interesting interactions. He'd be able to read the emotions of everyone in the room quite clearly through Hannah, which could be really overwhelming, but also kind of cool. :)

Nice to hear everyone's ideas. I'm eager to find that balance of the superhero side of it, and also the side that shows a normally functioning group of young adults (or kids as may be the case), and how the sudden change in lifestyle affects them. I'm always big on character development. What I'm trying to get in this RP is character development and some nice plot development, eventually. But we won't be rushing anywhere.

Hannah might be able to help with those meltdowns in the future. I want her to work up to being able to absorb emotions from people, like pain, anger, etc.

And I think meeting a telepath is really going to throw her through a loop. ;P

You are absolutely right, especially with so little training. He'd knock her out, or alternatively cause her to have a stress break and make everyone insane... Suddenly having all of these people under the same roof is seeming like not such a great idea :/

There's always a soft spot in my heart for empaths - especially 'cos I'm playing one in another RP currently. An underrated superpower!


Emotional intelligence is real, bruh. Human beings are probably the most complex machines known to us. Imagine having the ability to read them.
