Also, the weirdness [i]does[/i] have a reason---the ancient civilization manipulated the fabric of reality, leading to disturbances that have severely warped the world. The "Mayan" thing is also totally based off of real life. But our purpose here is to create a strange world that gives our imaginations leeway. It isn't for everyone, I agree.
