[@vietmyke] Hey, any chance I could get some perspective to the value of the currencies? Like, what's the general price range of: A loaf of bread A tunic A varyan steel sword A mithril sword A horse 100 acres of farmland
Value all depends on the current demand of the product but... hold on.. lol, most of the items I have in my other RPs use the Varyan Major system... - A cheap loaf of common bread from an inn or tavern would be little more than a few copper, On the other hand, nice bread that royal types consume could cost a few Sil. - A common tunic or clothing item would run anywhere from a Sil or two to 1 Gald. - A plain steel sword would probably cost anywhere from a 10-25 Gald - Which is a pretty penny. A low quality/crappy sword can be anywhere from 1-7 Gald. A sword made of Varyan Steel would probably run closer to 30-50 Gald. A sword made from Mithril or Adamantium would probably hit close to 150 Gald or more. - A cheap spear would be something like a few Sil to 1 Gald, because the only metal bit is the spearhead. - A Horse is around 40-50 Gald for a well bred horse like Emil's. A Horse for nobility would probably cost even more, but a common horse can be around 10-25 Gald I cant really answer the bit about farmland, because I've never been too sure of the value of farmland. Probably a lot. - The average peasant/farming family makes around 1-7 Gald of profit a year (This is without the costs of feeding the family and maintaining the farm, etc) - A Guard in Edessa is given 5-7 Sil a week - A well-off Merchant probably makes around 15-25 Gald of profit a year primarily metal armor, and high quality swords are generally something that can be afforded by nobility. But its not unheard of for commoners to own such equipment. - If any of these sound wrong to you... well... I'm no medieval economics major so...
