The definition of "Fear" varies from person to person. For some people, it's insects. For others, it might be animals, or heights. And for many, it's the Dark. Ever since the dawn of man, all human advancement has been derived from a single, all-important invention. Fire. Light. The power to drive away the dark. Since then, mankind has travelled far, invented things the old era could never even dream of, and even coming as far as to touch the stars. However, they have never forgotten their most powerful, and ancient fear. They remember the dark. And it remembers them.
Thank you for tagging along for my (not) long-anticipated Survival/Horror adventure! With our pretentious, silly opening blurbs out of the way, I'm sure you're wondering, "What exactly is this roleplay even about?" Well, great of you to ask! This is a game of sorts, a survival experience built around the core concepts of fear, darkness and the supernatural. Of course, you won't be throwing fire-blasts or tossing lightning-bolts, but you'll certainly be delving into subjects existing on the borderline between Reality and Fantasy. You'll definitely see plenty of spooky things on your journey, and even experience them first-hand, if you're unlucky. Who knows, you might even spot a skeletman or two. (Probably not.) For any more questions you might have, I've made this cute little section below that might explain most of what you're confused about. If there's more you need, you can feel free to ask me about anything you might be worried or wondering about. I can't promise that I'll give a definite answer, but I can promise that I will answer, if that makes any sense. I just like answering questions, even if those answers are vague, non-detailed or otherwise completely unhelpful.

Rules & Notes

Standard roleplaying rules apply. (i.e. No Metagaming, Godmodding, Auto-hitting.)
No being a bully OOC.
This roleplay is set in a fictional copy of Vancouver, Canada. It's basically Vancouver, but I may alter or add locations for the sake of convenience. Your characters do not have to be Canadian, but they have to be in Vancouver somehow at the point of the roleplay's start.
Character limit of 1 per player.
During the course of the roleplay, you may privately be given information that the other characters might not have. You are free to explain this information In-Character, but you will be scolded if you just straight up post it in the OOC. See "No Metagaming" above for further emphasis.
Characters may be aged in whatever fashion you deem appropriate. However, there will be penalties enforced depending on age, regardless of which age you choose. I do ask that you make characters at least with the level of development required to walk and talk, as otherwise we would have quite a troublesome experience integrating your character with the plot.
If you're going to be gone, tell me. If you're gone for too long, especially if you've left people waiting for you to post, you may be killed horribly, suddenly and gruesomely by me with no notice. I will be lenient with this most of the time, but repeat offenders obviously run a higher risk.
The GM's word is law. Of course, you're free to dispute the law, just know that I will probably excessive this privilege if you ever start causing trouble.
You are not a wizard, a ghost, a powerful half-demon ninja assassin or Gilsuke Uchimesh.
And, with this, I offer to you our Character Skeleton. It's quite a spooky skeleton, but it's mine, so you're not allowed to bully it~
If you have a picture, it goes here. CHARACTER NAMEAge: Try to be realistic with this. I will accept all ages, and I encourage there to be some age diversity amongst the cast. Gender: Please try not to get too complicated with this. Nickname(s): Optional Fear(s): Include all of your character's personal fears, and if you wish, explain their origins. This does not include general fears, like "Being eaten by demonic otherworldly entities", but rather extends to things like "Dolls", "Ladders" or "Spooky Scary Skeletons". As far as describing them goes, you don't have to be completely overly detailed with your explanation. Let's just say, maybe you got lost in a skeleton emporium at night, or something. It's up to you. Personality: Describe how your character acts, how they think, and how they perceive the world. This is pretty basic stuff that belongs on pretty much every character sheet, but you're free to hold back or go completely overboard on the detail. Preferably the latter. History: Explain your character's dark, over-dramatic backstory here. Or, you know, since you're normal, you could just have a basic overview of what's been going on with your life. Skills: Tell me what you can do. As much as everybody likes to make young characters, do not expect me to be lenient in allowing an unrealistic amount of skills for your character's age group. Naturally, older characters will be more skilled, and have more room for a diverse and varied skillset. That doesn't mean that young characters will suck, though, and they do have certain other advantages. Try to aim for variety here. If we have 5 detectives, you might have a pretty hard time when we get to the sewer level, with all those goddamn pipes and valves. Other: Any other character traits you think are important enough to include. Do you have any addictions, or bad habits? Maybe you have a girlfriend, or a cute daughter that you want to introduce to me? Pretty much anything can go here, and I expect at least something.
