Subsonic ammo have been around since WWI, and those same types are still used today. The first suppressor was patented in 1909, and invented in 1902. Turns out it was made by the son of the man who built the Maxim Gun, so that's interesting.

And yeah, googling "Nazi treatment of X" is always a good way to release some water from your eyes.
