Really I was deliberately playing it as an overreaction on Nici's part, but any level of invasive mental control on the other characters should be used cautiously, even something as benign as changing the sound of the music in her head.

Altering her perception of that song would have now changed her memory of it, so every time she tries to remember the song in the future she'll be reminded of the hip-hop remix version instead.
