It is VERY difficult to locate any relevant information on the surrounding location of the airfield.   I searched for hours for anything that would give me a clue as to what even the airfield is even like.  So a lot of it is still a grey area im attempting to create.  Imagine the topography as a city.  Skyscrapers and towering buildings will be a main feature for the area near the airfield.  Again, i'm guessing on this as information is not readily available on this on any star wars site (I looked for hours.)  So, as to clear up confusion, i will say this.

The first kilometer surrounding the airfield will be buildings used for the GAR's needs.  This will include, but is not limited to, barracks for Clone Troopers, maintenance depots, and things of this nature.

A kilometer away the military installations will break way to skyscrapers and other things of this nature.  

As per the directions, again no information.  Let's say the end controlled by the clones faces west and the CIS end is towards the east.

As per droid numbers, five thousand plus droids at the moment but increasing with every C-9980 (Made this up myself, earlier model is the c-9979 which can be found on Wookiepedia).  Tanks number in the two to three hundred range, and again, increasing with every transports.  

As per the post, the 501st has been redirected towards the airfield.  They are not the only reinforcements the airfield will get but they will be the largest.  Large parts of the GAR forces will be engaged all across the planet.  The biggest parts of the GAR armies will be out of the system, fighting wars on other planets.  Expect many of them to pull out and return at once.  

The communication systems were not damaged, it is the Long Range Scanner's that were hit.

Orders have been given.
