Normally I'd say it would be passive, given the way it's described in Brick's profile, but with him stepping forwards to throw the grenade and Flare standing behind him at the time even if [i]Solid Wall[/i] had activated as normal Brick would've just been protecting the Hell's Bitches from the attack rather than the other way around. And since the damage was easily healed by Nightingale no-one's any worse off by the end of the round anyway. :)

[@Leolycan] Sorry, but you can only use one ability or attack per turn, so you'd have to activate [i]RETINA[/i] this turn and then make an attack with it next turn. The two round counter wouldn't start until the next turn though so you'd still have two opportunities to attack with it before Vex 'burns out'.
