[@Desire] Attacking barehanded will cause damage to you, though if I remember correctly, you do have gauntlets, yes? You should be somewhat safe. If you are feeling that getting up-close puts you in too much danger you can improvise with some of the wreckage.

[@Lord Santa] Reading your post I got the impression that you forgot you are still in a dimly lit area. Oozes didn't cause the darkness, they just appeared from it.
