Oh, I hate sites like that. Been on a couple graphic sites that are like "you need to sub AND make x number of posts a week". They tend to create elitist attitudes for some reason. I can understand personal things like blogs being private, but if I can't see the forum, I won't join.

They also feel a bit like scam sites. :P
