[/quote] Basically, Akron and Macon never crashed, and the US passed “An Act for the Establishment of a Commercial Airship Transportation Industry in the United States” - something briefly brought up and failed as a bill in our timeline as the "Transoceanic Merchant Airship Bill" (I think; I actually have zero information about that bill besides its name). Then airships slowly prove that they're not completely worthless in a fleet exercise. So, we end up with more airships. They only last until planes get longer range. And then helicopters fill their ASW role. Airships are awesome, but even in alternate timelines they can't last.
