This is a wonderful concept that is sure to spark off an excellent story, one in which I would dearly appreciate the opportunity to play a role. I have some ideas for factions, but I'd first like to ask a question. How much of Noravea's history, pre-Crimson Grey, is already determined? I ask because I think it'd be interesting to play the role of a faction giving form to (constitutional) monarchist sentiment in Noravea; they could perhaps be centred around Varisso in Pomorum, which could be said to be the country's former capital under the monarchy. They'd have strong and wide-reaching support across the country from conservative members of Noravea's dominant race and religion, but begin the roleplay with minimal organization and war materials, and be disliked by most of Noravea's minority communities. Their plan to restore the Kingdom of Noravea would also naturally put them at immediate odds with Wilhelmsland, which they would desire to have included within the new kingdom, as it was included within the old. To this end, I was thinking that in Noravea's history Crimson Grey could have either seized power from the monarchy himself, in a republican coup, or that he seized power in short order from whoever originally overthrew the monarchy, after their armies were exhausted from defeating the monarchists. The surviving members of the royal family would then have either lived in exile in a neighbouring country (possibility for an alliance between the faction and said neighbour), or have hid in various remote locations in Noravea itself, always on the run from Crimson Grey's forces. The first in line to the throne would be the faction's leader, and their place within Noravea's history would give them some level of legitimacy in the eyes of the peacekeeping forces (notably excluding those from Wilhelmsland). I[s]'m thinking that if I go with the foreign exile route, I'll have it that the royal family fled to Northland and formally took refuge in Mittelgard, adding to the tension that grew between Northland and Noravea during Crimson Grey's rule. The monarchists would therefore have support from Northland, but at the cost. In exchange for their support, and in gratitude for their asylum, the king-in-waiting promises to surrender Noravea's claim to any amount of the Eastern Sea's oil reserves once in power, recognizing them as full possessions of Northland.[/s] Hmm. Looking over other faction ideas, it seems everyone's vying for Northland's support. Maybe something else.
