They'd be between 13 to 15 years old at that time. Then, an accident happen and the boy/girlfriend of Y dies. The accident is party due to X, who feels guilty. Both friends cut contact for a few years, without really telling one another why. X feels bad and hurt, while Y had to go through a lot. Few years later, they meet in High School again and have to gradually talk to one another. X will struggle with his/her love for Y, knowing it never disappeared. He/she'd try to hide it, because of the guilt. Y would still have a scar from the past, and would not understand why his/her friend wasn't there for him/her in his/her time of need, realizing he's holding some kind of grudge.
