Well, Rich and Poor are big generalizations. There's a difference between middle-class poor and my-family-was-homeless-at-one-point poor just like there's a difference between American-dream rich and I-have-my-own-yaht rich. Leo and Julio aren't struggling, but they lack the privileges that many of the "rich kids" probably have.

Also I just had a thought about the dormitories, since my characters are coming all the way from Canada, I assume housing would be available to people who don't live near campus or who live out of state. I know you said only the poor kids would be living in dorms, and while the rich kids can probably afford their own housing off-campus they may not all want to. Another suggestion would be a group (could be a mix of rich and poor) getting together to rent a house. That could be something we could talk about, or I'd be interested in orchestrating if anyone else wants in. It's way cheaper than an apartment so a lot of the poor kids might like that, since living off-campus seems to be almost a status symbol.
