Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power.

Name: Geoffrey Windsor
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Race: British-American
Height: 6’ even
Weight: 170 pounds
Blood Type: AB
Birthday: November 8th
Alignment: Freedom
Affiliation: [TBD]
Aliases/Titles: Geoff [pronounced Jeff, like usual]

Personality: Thoughtful. Opinionated. Driven. Pragmatic. Geoffrey is a man who lives by his ideals and will fight to support them. He values consistency and honesty, and does his best to never lie or betray the trust of others. He is loud, aggressive and brash, and has on many occasions been thought rude. He has little respect for authority, and though in his past enjoyed the trappings of rebellion more than the practice of it, he has shifted from that mindset. He values freedom more than anything, and he holds many viewpoints that many would consider optimistic. He has little time for faith or ignorance, and hates being uninformed. He is fastidious when learning and never stops analyzing situations, a double-edged attribute he has been tempering in recent years.

Background: Born to a British father and a Texan mother after moving to Sonomachi. Growing up as an outsider, he had an initially difficult but ultimately satisfying and happy childhood. A rambunctious child, Geoffrey nevertheless performed well in school and entered university double majoring in history and political science. He developed, after a trip to his mother’s homeland, a love of firearms, and chafes at the restrictions of his homeland in this regard. Just over three years after his graduation, he found himself pulled from his internship at a middling newspaper and into a fascinating, alien world, populated by all manner of hideous and incredible creatures by the whims of fate. Geoffrey has embraced his role as a chaser, and though he is still unfamiliar and afraid of the red wonderland, he has taken it upon himself to learn more about it and document it’s mysteries for the betterment of humanity.

Powers: Geoffrey noticed, when he entered the other world, time seemed to pass slower. Much slower. If he concentrated, he could make seconds multiply in length. Having seen some of the other fantastical abilities the denizens of this realm possess, he cannot say he is not disappointed, but he continues to study and train his newfound blessing.

Skills: Geoff used to pay the bills with his passable writing and mediocre photography, and those skills have not disappeared since his resignation. He was in good shape before his discovery, and since his becoming a Chaser his efforts at fitness have redoubled, personal safety and a new sense of manifest destiny a much better motivator than attracting women. Geoffrey has all sorts of ancillary talents, just like anyone, but his most applicable skillset to his new role under the crimson sky is not only his broad knowledge of the operation and manufacture of firearms, but his natural aptitude at their use, his skill under and returning fire improving by leaps and bounds after his circumvention of the prosaic firearms laws of his country, and the ample space for practice in this brave new world.

Weapons: Geoffrey first acquired an M4 thanks to leaps in the printing of lower receivers, and uses it as his weapon of choice in a pinch. He has multiple barrels and rounds for different combat applications, and a bevy of accessories if they are necessary. He managed to procure a Bren Ten, a passion acquisition primarily, thanks to the esoteric ammunition, and a large rifle chambered in .458 for handling the impressive threats he has seen in the distance of the red world.

Equipment: No explorer should go without a sturdy helmet and plate carrier, lengths of rope, plenty of ammunition, flares, an entrenching tool, a pair of sharp knives, a hand axe, and a set of city camouflage, custom tinted slightly red. He carries a rugged camera for video and photography, small enough to be carried in a pack and tough enough to survive some rough treatment, while being still affordable on his very tight budget. Having heard from stories about the terrible tales of people being manipulated through eye contact, he has managed to procure a pair of night-vision goggles, which will hopefully mitigate the danger of such a seemingly-unlikely occurrence.

Other: His personal heroes are Benjamin Franklin, Theodore Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Erich von Manstein

Affiliation: Unaffiliated with any large group, Susan has a cadre of friends who can call on each other for support.
Aliases/Titles: Susan bounced back and forth between names for a long time, never quite settling on one. Susan is merely one in a long line of monikers chosen from particularly fascinating humans. She was Winston most proudly, and Bernadette for the longest while.

Personality: Curiosity may have a reputation for feline fatality, but Susan embraces it all the same. She loves to know things: interesting things, boring things, incidental things, things of all shapes and sizes. She is hungry for knowledge, and devours it voraciously and with extreme relish. She is fascinated with humanity, and spends a great deal of her time learning about those people across the veil. Her time among mortals has made her much more compassionate towards them, and nowadays finds the thought of harming them repulsive, speaking to her changeability if nothing else. She is highly pragmatic and shrewd when the feeling takes her, though her primary desires are purely hedonistic: Susan does not seek knowledge for its own sake but for the enjoyment it brings her, and spends plenty of her time indulging her desires and living her life to the fullest. She is loud and friendly, boisterous and cantankerous, though deep down she is always self-serving, essentially doing what would bring her the most pleasure at any given moment.

Background: Spawned in 1920, “Susan” (her first name was Sieglinde, after her first book was a book of German fairy tales) spent her formative years spending the lion’s share of her time in the human world in one of the greatest eras of optimism and exuberance ever seen. These experiences colored her, the flapper society in particular setting roots in her psyche that have not quite receded. She retreated into the Crimson more and more as the depression turned to the War, and became more acquainted with her fellow spirits, shifting her curious gaze from the multicolored human land to the monochromatic demon one, her isolation prompted by a stern rebuke after a suggestion to just kill this Hitler fellow and be done with it.

Her dalliance with the human world resumed after ’45, though more grounded in her otherworldly home, and faced with a choice between the vivacity of the west and the austerity and oppression of the east she chose the former, spending most of her time roaming the Crimson versions of NATO countries, popping over to investigate and occasionally staying in one place for a few human years. The cold war may be over, but her travels have brought her to Japan, and she has no plans to move on just yet.

Powers: Susan’s power seems simple at first: she can create, direct and shape up to three sets of linked portals through space. The restrictions on this power made it more complicated than it seemed. Transport through the portals is instantaneous, and they are functionally tunnels in space rather than teleporters. The six possible portals can be opened or closed, and are always connected in the same fashion: one portal cannot lead to two different ones, nor can two lead into one. The portals have no solid edges, they are simply moving holes without frames. The edges are however easy to see, thanks to the odd sight of one view immediately changing to another. Up to two portals can be manipulated simultaneously. The portals can only be opened, moved or reshaped within approximately 100 meters of Susan in any direction. Portals can be closed from anywhere, and will continue to exist if Susan moves more than 100 meters away from them. Portals are not necessarily two dimensional, and can be morphed through three dimensions, though creating complex shapes becomes difficult for Susan to maintain, especially if other portals are open. Connected portals always have the same dimensions and angles. Portals move at a maximum rate determined by their surface area, from dozens of meters per second at areas of a few centimeters to walking pace at several meters squared. Portals expand at a fixed rate of the perimeter, somewhere around 5 meters of perimeter per second, with a maximum perimeter of 100 meters. For reasons unknown to Susan, this rate is increased by a factor of 3.6 in the first few seconds of the portal being created. Portals are created by expanding from nothing. Portals can change size while moving or being reshaped, but this action becomes difficult for Susan over time. Portals do not need to be created where Susan sees them, but her accuracy decreases when there is no line of sight. Portals do not need continuous concentration while open, though as mentioned before accurate manipulation becomes more difficult the more portals there are. Portals cannot exist independently, and since they change size together and are closed by reducing their perimeter to 0, it is not possible to have an unmatched portal. Since it takes one second to open a portal which can be easily passed through, Susan is limited in her applications of them, and when danger comes she relies on preparation to make up for the limits her power possesses.

Thanks to youkai anatomy, her physical capabilities are well above that of the average human, though utterly dwarfed when compared to those of her fellow denizens of the Crimson, despite her lack of physical training.

Skills: She can speak and write English, Japanese and German. She has a high-school graduate understanding of most scholastic subjects thanks to her personal studies, with her understanding of physics and math somewhat greater due to personal interest. She learned to love the trumpet, and plays it to a very high degree after learning during some of her first dalliances in the human world. She is very well read, and has adopted human technology to a much greater degree than most other youkai, though she is by no means an expert. The accomplishment she prizes most highly is her understanding and adaptation of human culture, and although it is much higher than the average youkai, the fact she is not a native is still painfully obvious, especially in cultures she has not yet learned of in detail [like japan], and her alien status is obvious, especially when she is not being fastidiously careful to maintain appearances.

Weapons: She carries none.

Equipment: A pocket knife, a warm jacket, and comfortable running shoes.
