Historically speaking salt does have uses as a religious purifying element. I never argued that, nor did I argue that salt had links to warding off evil/bad luck/curses. What I did argue was that in actual mythology salt unlike holy water never had any form of active offensive abilities against demons or ghosts. It might be used to ward off spirits or purify your house against them (I will say again that the type of spirits this generally referred to were the ones that made your drink go cold or pushed you off a chair rather than the ones that killed you and your entire family). What I was arguing was that the idea off salt have actual offensive properties against in your face demons or ghosts was invented by Supernatural. It has small ties to actual history and myth much like the Mark of Cain that was presented in the show. I never said that there was no link, what I said was that the one most commonly thought of by people and mentioned earlier in the thread (salt will keep ghosts and demons our of your house) was almost solely invented by Supernatural with just enough historical accuracy to make it appear credible. That was the point I was trying to make and will now stop. If you agree with me great. If you don't that's your right. I don't want to argue about it anymore.
