Let there be no mistake - Germany is absolutely willing to return to a state of peace with France, under the principle of status quo ante bellum. The designs on Iberia, the Lowlands and elsewhere described by the British member of parliament are blatantly made up, just as their accusations towards the Ottoman Empire.

The notion that Germany's preparedness for war means that she wished the war is a silly one. Can the same not be said for the French advance on Elsass-Lothringen? It is every nation's right to be prepared to defend themselves by the same means by which they may be attacked.

I implore the British parliament not to listen to this jingoistic charlatan and instead choose peace.
