Kairi is the daughter of a shrine keeper in Modern Day Japan. One day while chasing her dog into a closed off area in the shrine, Kairi noticed a well in a closed off little building. From the outside it looked almost like a shed. Upon entering the structure, a faint glow appeared inside the well.

Moving closer to take a look, an explosion of wood and dust over took the small area. Before she knew what was happening, a giant serpant like demon burst through and wrapped its body around Kairi, snatching her into the well. Instead of hitting the bottom, however, she continued to fall through a portal at the bottom. When she reappeared she climbs out of a well in the ancient Sengoku period of Japan.
