It would be more urban and modern than futuristic- the example of 'new york' is certainly an apt example to start in.

Shadowrun was a primary influence, I wholeheartedly admit, so the idea of having other fantastic races is easily adapted to, [@Mr_pink], and is certainly not an issue. I just have to broaden my spectrum a bit and adapt for a bit of additional info. Goblins, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, orcs? Sure, I don't have an issue with it.

[@Sypherkhode822] - That is something that can be catered to, most definitely. I left a lot of room for me to improvise and create based on player whim and want, so should the census want a freshly made world with new culture and civilization then I'll make one, but give me a little time to do it. If you guys would rather have just 'New York' or 'Chicago' or 'Moscow', then that'd also be fine, but I'd also enjoy using a more hand-crafted world.

Of course, if you guys all go 'well shoot phoenix, just do Shadowrun!' then I'll gladly do that and work with Shadowrun's world instead since I'd overlap its setting quite a bit.

However, I'll make up a bit of a rudimentary compromise [that I'd elaborate on later] and see how it all feels to you guys...

Technological state - Modern [Low sci-fi: No lasers or spaceships, but maybe more schizo computers and interconnected mass media and somewhat advanced devices and tools]

Races - Humans and [i]Other[/i]
-Other would be exceptionally rare amongst the populations of the created world, but would be diverse enough to include minorities such as 'goblins' and 'elves' and 'orcs' oh my. As for how these guys got here? I'll make up a form-fitting explanation once I get the setting creation underway.

Magic - No. Swaying me on this would require a nearly unanimous effort on the player-base.

Society - This is where disparity would be present; would you rather be placed in a utopian* society where everything is controlled and organized, or a chaotic dog-eat-dog world?
