FWIW, I think the plot is more effective in a bland, generic, cornfed American town. It allows to be thoroughly ironic on who the Demon Lord is and invoke all the tropes of a high school setting, such as dickish 1980's style bullies (like William Zabka in every role he ever played). I know what I'd pick for the Demon Lord, as well. It's an amusing idea.

All of my this. I'm interested in this idea assuming it strays from the anime/Japanese town set up referenced. That's just not my cup o' tea.
