How did this happen you may ask? Allow me to elaborate.

On the 30th of June 2015, Megabots Inc. challenged Suidobashi Heavy Industries to a Giant Robot Duel.

Suidobashi has accepted the challenge.

Now for those not in the know, who are these people? In single sentences: Megabots Inc. was a company built on a kickstarter campaign to build an American Giant Robot. Suidobashi Heavy Industries is a Japanese company that built the first ever Giant Robot in the world as a PR stunt.

No more animations. No more CGI. No more clever camera work to make small models look big. Now if you have problems with any of the pilots, with their character or their robot design, you can go out, build your own giant robot, and punch them in the cockpit.

In this very universe, in this very solar system, on this very planet IT IS HAPPENING.

1st of July, 2016, it will HAPPEN.

Lastly, for the mods: No I am not paid for this. I will not spam people to death with adverts. This, to me and a lot of others, is something very special. This is the future, so close by one can almost taste it. We, as a species, are on the precipice to becoming that much more awesome, to accomplishing one more long lasting childhood dream. It may not be as memorable as the moonlanding or as much of a relief as the invention of penicillin, but for so many people this has been and still is a dream come true. The shooting star has passed us by, and now our wish is on the verge of coming true.

Also, shamelessly ripping off someone else here: I was there when man dreamed of things greater then themselves. I was there when the first machine was built. I was there when the second was created.
