I like edgy characters. Too much of anything is bad, like everyone being a comedian gets just ridiculous and annoying after a while, trust me when you play D&D boy does it become Monty Python really quickly. I like variety and think that's the best solution. At the end of the day it all comes down to what kind of characters a player likes to create. I do both edgy and non serious characters depending on my mood. I love darkness because it shows the more darker sides of humanity and doesn't get all fluffy, but when I make a funny character I try to keep light unless my character is more fond of dark humor.
