Rex is sorta like the creature the little kid dreamt up to fight Mortis and the others, but instead of just being a dream he fused with the dude who dreamt him up. Because that is what the dudes worst nightmare was. So using the dudes body he has been able to keep his form and been able do what ever he pleased because of the dudes body.

And if that doesn't work then i can change where he is from.
