[@ClockTowerEchos] - Wages are an OOC resource, technically speaking. The 3 gp/day listing for Thieves isn't like set in stone "you make 3 GP a day" its more like the average of what you make from stealing/selling stolen goods, and such. So as a thief you would still get a wage.

Now, for things you steal in a story, depending on how realistic, and reasonable you write the theft, can depend on whether I grant you the item, or if it can be assumed the item was sold and the money added into the 3gp/day. 

If you're stealing from another player character, it is up to the both of you whether you acquire their item.
