On a side note, what would happen if a human kid eats a soul candy? Do they die instantly or do their souls simply come out of them which makes them at risk of being eaten by Hollows?

Their soul would leave their body but the chain of fate would still be intact which means their still alive. All souls are in danger of being devoured by hollows whether alive or not. Only difference is they gotta go through a fleshy shell first which isn't that hard for a hollow.
