I'm going by my character's IC knowledge. Basically, he knows:

[*]For some reason, his boss has ordered everyone in the network to, instead of meeting together at the network's base or a top-secret location, meet at a random coffee shop.
[*]When not everyone in the network showed up, his boss decided against checking up on them and instead decided to leave with a half-full net.
[*]His boss then told everyone there to meet him in a shady alleyway in the bad part of town.
[*]His boss was using unusually casual slang when talking about an apparent crime that he supposedly [i]needed[/i] to solve.

Going by what Grigori understands about his boss and how a high-class demon-hunting network of detectives [i]should[/i] act, he came to the conclusion that this isn't [i]actually[/i] Max Avendir who set this all up. Grigori then assumed that something-- or someone-- managed to capture Max, forcibly seize control of him, and is now hunting down the members of S.I.N by luring them into traps disguised as crime scenes.
