[i]John was a surprise to his mother, a mistake for his father, and life was generally split between two extremes. Warmth, love, and affection on his mother's side while his father was cold, harsh, and distant. These constant fluctuations played havoc on the young mans life as he inherited his mothers kind nature but also gained his fathers size and strength.
Because of his size and timid nature, his father forced John into boxing. While he found the exercise incredibly rewarding he found the actual act of boxing much less so, unfortunately John quickly found out that his father did [b]not[/b] tolerate failure.
