I see it as shuttlecrafts, either to come in from space or vehicles to drop in on from the atmosphere, food would have a modified drying/re-hydrating system (Think the pizza from Back To The Future 2), and the main thruster systems essentially creates small black holes that do rapid teleportation and dissipate after a few seconds.
