He was never comfortable in his own skin, his father demeaning him and never giving him positive reinforcement, leaving him shy, and fearful of authority figures.

History: Joseph Wilson was born to a military father and his wife. Joseph was born sickly, and his mother died soon after his birth due to complications with his twin brother's birth, the child died as well. After his wife's death, the already shaken war veteran that was Joseph's father completely broke mentally. As Joseph aged, his father assaulted him brutally, both physically and mentally. Upon reaching his teenage years, Joseph signed up with the army in order to escape his father, doing two tours of duty in Vietnam. Joseph hated all that he did during the war, and left the army to become a part of the anti-war movement. Upon his returning to his home, his father attempted to attack him, but Joseph fought back for the first time, the ensuing altercation left his father severely wounded, with Joseph losing an eye. In horror of his actions, Joseph returned to the army. Joseph was asked to become a part of a special squad meant to diffuse conflicts in troubled countries, and Joseph accepted, however, to become a part of it, he was experimented upon. Due to this, Joseph angrily left the program, travelling the world, and learning many skills, and languages, along the way, he met Bruce Wayne, and the two became fast friends. After returning from his travels, Bruce Wayne asked Joseph to become a member of a special security squad for defense of the Waynecorp building, however, the squad served more like mercenaries to Bruce's whim, which Joseph accepted, however, after discovering the actions of Bruce to assert his control over the city, Joseph took up the identity of Deathstroke, to fight against his old friend, and to save his home-town from the Batman's grasp.
