At this late hour Taisto was not feeling the need for sleep at the slightest, most likely due to already slumbering away the better half of the whole day. He chose as his chosen activity to chug an beer and to stroll into the back yard of the house.
There the soft touch of moist grass blades on his soles and the soothing whispering of the wind made his imaginative side tingle.

He liked for now to consider his future, the fancy drink bar he would construct, none who knew him could guess that was the kind of establishment that he craved. However it was clear on his mind, many of these smaller towns in Sweden and his home country Finland had an growing clientele of young that craved something different and fancier than what the local pub and club had to offer, and Taisto would be there to meet their demands.

An sly smile crept unto his face, one that not many would ever see, and as suddenly as he thought up these visions of future, Taisto felt an lurch in his stomach, something dark and unfamiliar was watching him? He had felt this feeling before when he and his friends had ran to the local woods to look for dinosaurs after seeing jurassic park for the first time when they were kids. They were so enraptured by their imagination that they had at one point believed it all to be true and fled the local woods in terror, he felt again the same horrible sensations and felt sick. Well past his hangover he could only guess what was really going on, It felt violent, sharp and twisting in his guts. Taisto positively lunged at the house but his run was eye seemingly lengthening, after what seemed like two hundred meter race to him, Taisto arrived into the questionable safety of the darkened house and locked the door behind him like it was the damn Groke that was chasing him. It was equally disturbing how long it took him to reach the kitchen, he was sure that his drunken state had left him so this panic attack was sudden and unexpected as he had never experienced anything of its sort before.

After the disturbingly long walk into the kitchen, the shaking Taisto begun to brew some coffee for himself, he decided to start from the ground up, even grinding the beans himself, and there was nothing that could stop him from enjoying at least three pots of this delicious treat in this dark of night as he sat there at the kitchen table, shaking coffee mug in his hands.

He had caught her flirty wink, and returned it with a slight, playful half-smirk of his own, not one for the more obvious senses of flirting, his technique tended to be limited, as he would never allow himself to approach someone else, and before introducing himself, he would have the bartender pour two shots of his favorite whiskey. If they could handle the drink, without choking or coughing, he would offer a smile, and his name. If they couldn't, he would give them a disappointed grunt, and turn back to his liquor. It wasn't often that the person in question would pass his test, as the brew was almost 150 proof, but if they did, the flat-mates would meet them in the morning. Most of them would be friendly, depending on the day, but Nicki always seemed to be the most critical of his one night stands. That, and he wasn't exactly know for being able to control how loud his partners tended to be, and Nicki Loved her beauty sleep.

Taking a drag from his cigarette, he blew it out and scooched towards her on the couch, sneaking a look at her latest designs. He wasn't much for fashion, as his tastes were limited to "lumberjack" or "mountain man." But nonetheless, he always could appreciate an artist's work, and he loved to see hers, in progress or complete. His leg pressed intentionally against hers, prolonging the little game of teasing back and forth as he listened pseudo-intently to Taisto spew more dream-centric bullshit about flaming skies and the "black Queen," whom he was assured was nothing but a subconscious fetish for black women in power over him. Adrian was masculine in ever aspect of his life, he ate almost nothing but meat, an absolute top, and kept his thoughts to himself. He was stoic on a talkative day, and wasn't a fan of men who lacked in his sense of masculinity. Which was, albeitly, most modern men, so he learned to deal with them, but still often found himself annoyed when men would talk about their emotions or dreams.

Allan

Woken suddenly from a deep, dreamless sleep, Allan lay in bed, eyes wide and staring at the ceiling as one of his roommates, presumably Max, screamed out from one of his nightmares. Bess was curled up on the bed too, but her head was up and ears perked at the horrible sounds that her friend made.

Unable to drift back to sleep, at least for now, he slipped out of bed and into his fuzzy slippers. Bess quietly padded off the bed and joined his side as he yawned and shuffled towards his door, grabbing for the knob in the dark.

He missed, just by a hair.

Allan rubbed the sleep from his eyes, grasped the knob and pulled his door open. He made his way to Max's door, Bess by his side the whole way. When he opened his roommate's door the black lab slipped inside first and leaped deftly onto the bed, bumping her cold, wet nose against his cheek as she sniffed over him in her curiosity and concern. Allan remained in the doorway but switched on Max's room light.

"Max, you okay? I heard you screaming."

Panting, Max looked towards the door. His eyes flashed with vacancy when he looked at Allan and, quickly, he said, 'Yeah, fine. Just another bad dream.' He scratched his head and sighed, squinting. 'Every night,' he said. 'Every night I get them. Each time they're different but somehow the same.'

He leaned across to his bedside table and picked up the glass of water there. After having a drink he said, 'Do you get them?'

House

September 5th, 2015: 4:22 AM

Those sleeping were woken up; those still awake were scared. At the moment the clocks in the house read 4:22 AM, the house growled with anger. At first it started as a faint rumble, no louder than the sound of a truck passing on a distant road; it quickly progressed into something much more terrifying. The sound resonated through the very air in the house, oscillating violently in each room for the full minute that the event lasted. The house itself didn't seem to move, but the sound itself was enough to make nausea ensue.

It was loud; louder than a train passing a station platform; louder than an airliner passing low overhead. When the sound passed the silence was piercing. Perhaps it was broken by a scream of terror in response to the horrifying event - perhaps the members of the household called out, 'What the fuck was that!?'. All that remained otherwise the was the silent stillness in the wake of the beast that lay its first siege on the house.

After the sound passed all would return for normal, except for one room: the living-room. There, on the wall which was featureless before, stood now a door. The door was plain itself; blank white with a black door-handle and silver hinges. Behind it lay a long corridor that lead on endlessly into darkness.

At the sound of a monstrous roar Linus spasms and falls out of his bed, body clenched in fear. Wake up, wake up! This dream needs to stop! Yet, when Linus opened his eyes, the sound still continued, beating against his eardrums with a violent intensity. Linus clasped his hands to his ears to block out the sound, sitting up, but to no avail; it just got louder and louder. Then, just as tears of pain started to develop in his eyes, the sound stopped.

Now completely and utterly awake, Linus blinks and wipes his eyes hurriedly. Linus quickly and feebly rebuttons his shirt before dashing out of bed, sliding across the floor in his socks as he goes to the nearest room: Adrian's. Linus grips onto the doorway as he slides, steadying himself. His stutter is far more intense in this moment of panic.

"D-d-d-d-d-d-did y-y-y-you... hhhhhear t-t-t-that?" Linus' eyes are wide and filled his fear. His body is shaking his face is pale as a sheet as he takes a feeble step into the room.

Allan

"Not recently, no. I haven't had any for a while now, actually."

Allan sat on the edge of Max's bed, kinda giving him a concerned once-over from how bedraggled he looked. Bess shifted closer and laid her head in his roommates' lap, staring up at him with her cute brown eyes and floppy ears.

He smiled and gave his dog's back a pat.

"I think maybe Bess can stay the night with you, Max. She's a real comfort."

That said, he rose.

"Anyway, if everything's alright, I'll be headed back now. Sleep well, Max."

Two hours later
4:22 am

The loud, all-encompassing roar that echoed through the house startled Allan awake, and from Max's room he could hear Bess going crazy. She was barking at something, the thing that made that loud noise, and that made him fear for his safety.

Allan scrambled out of bed, threw the light on in his room and ran outside, where he found Linus in Adrian's doorway, scared out of his wits. A fair bit frazzled himself, he spoke.

"Linus, you okay? You better go check on the rest. I'm gonna go see if Max is okay."

That said he advanced to his roommate's door and threw it open, finding Bess on the bed, haunches up as she barked and yowled at a corner of the room, which was empty.

"Max! You okay?"

Max was already up and standing by the side of his bed. His face showed the remnants of the pain his ears had recently undergone. 'What the fuck was that?' he asked, his voice riddled with terror. He quickly walks out the room, almost barging past Allan. In the corridor he sees Linus and, seeing how worried he looks, says, 'Don't worry.' It was the best he could do while his mind strained for an answer. His ears were still ringing and he felt as if he couldn't think straight. Thoughts of his nightmares started to creep up on him.

Max stepped out of the corridor and into the living-room. Searching for what the source of the noise was he was crippled by denial when he found the answer. At first he couldn't believe what he was seeing - the possibility that he was dreaming crossed his mind, but the roar that left his ears ringing confirmed he was still awake. The hope that what he was seeing wasn't real loomed but its integrity was wearing thin. Like a bullet, realization set in and panic swept over his entire body. His vision blurred and his mind's eye flashed with thoughts of death; the nothingness that he had so recently feared.

An a daze he called out. 'Guys!' And again, that his voice more truthfully representing his panic-ridden state 'Guys! Come here quick!' Before him, the small white door loomed over him, desolate of any explanation. He dared not to open it.

Allan followed Max as he paced out into the living room and came face to face with a door that shouldn't exist but it did. Where there was once a blank wall now stood a white door, with a black handle. The existential ramifications of such a revelation were...startling, to say the least, but as he gingerly approached the door and laid a hand on the handle, a shiver went up his spine.

It was real.

He turned back to look at Max, who was frozen in fear.

"Uh, s-should I open it?"

Nicole heard the rumble as it first began to start and she had answered it back with a groan. She was not happy about this annoyance. She looked at the clock as the sound began to grow a bit more. It was 4:22. She had been awake just two hours before and now she was being woken up again? This was fucking ridiculous. All this time the blonde had assumed maybe it was some construction outside, but as the sound began to more closely resemble a passing train, this thought was dashed aside. Her eyes began darting around the dark room in a panic and she had her covers all the way up to her neck. This was only temporary as the sound grew to a level that was unmanageable. To her it was like when a mic malfunctioned at a concert, but a lot lower and it lasted for much longer. The woman plunged her head under her pillow and pressed it into her ears in an attempt to block out the noise, but it had made little difference. If it wasn't the sound, it was the vibrations that shook her body to a point that it almost hurt. She screamed from under the pillow in fright as it went on, she didn't know why, but she couldn't stop. And then it went silent. In the silence her muffled scream whimpered through the silence of the building.

Her death grip slowly loosened on the pillow and she shakily lifted herself out of bed and made a beeline to the bathroom, shut, and locked it. Nicki began with a sense of urgency to put her makeup on. She knew she had to see her flat mates about this, they were surly awake now, but they had never seen her without her makeup and she was going to make damn sure that this wasn't that day. In about five minutes, her expert hands had managed to put on some concealer (to make her face flawless), some heavy amounts of mascara, some dark grey shading of eyeshadow along the crease of her eye, and some classy red lipstick. She dug through her hamper until she found some black skinny pants and a white long sleeve shirt and added a black waist belt to make it a little more presentable. She added her black pumps and she decided that she was finally ready to confront the group.

Instead of finding them in their rooms, they were all in the living room. She walked in, without looking at the surroundings, and said, "Hey, guys, was that an earthquake or tornado or..." Her shrill voice trailed off when her eyes met the door that they were all focused on. Her painted eyelids blinked back a few times before she said, "Uhm... guys? Why is there a new door in our living room?!" The blonde said, the octave of her voice going higher as she went on. No one answered her back. They were all focused on the door. She drew herself closer as Allan touched the door. He asked whether they should open it. Nicki looked at the door and narrowed her eyes a little. The door in that moment became something new, something interesting, and something to investigate. She was always pretty adventurous, "Why not? It's just a door. Besides, we'll have to look at it eventually because it's right in the middle of our flat."

"Open It."
He commanded quietly from the entry way to the living room, a baseball bat hanging limply from his hand. Despite his size, he was capable of moving rather quietly when he wanted to, so the others likely hadn't heard him come out to see the door, leave, then return with a wooden baseball bat he kept by his bedside. He slept in a simple attire, a pair of boxers and a white beater, which he was clad in now, shoeless, he readied the bat in his hands as he approached the door slowly, waiting for someone to swing it open. As he moved forward, he quickly soaked in the size of the door, and knew in his heart that it was impossible for it to lead anywhere, but he also assumed he was dreaming, so anything could happen, Right?

'Stop!'

Max's eyes were wide. His pupils darted between the people around him. 'Don't open it,' he warned. 'Just don't. This is like my dreams. This is the... the same feeling.' He edged towards the door and tried to slowly pull Nicole's hand away. Regardless of whether he was successful or not he backed away again with haste. 'We're not dreaming,' he said to everyone, including himself. 'This is real. This is real and I don't fucking know what to do.'

His eyes turned to Linus (providing he's present) and then Adrian. Recognizing these two as the strongest physically and mentally he said, 'What do we do?'

Linus scratches his chin curiously. He opens his mouth before closing it again, eyes glancing at each person in the room in turn. Nicki, who appeared incredible irritable What else is new..., Adrian, who appeared ready to take on whatever laid beyond, Allan, who looked wary but eager at the same time. And then there was Max, who looked as if the very house would swallow them up.

House... That word bit back at Linus as if it was a shark. Linus knew exactly where he stood. "L-l-lets not...." he mutters, before swallowing and speaking louder. "L-l-let's n-n-not open i-i-it... a-as l-l-long as i-it stays sh-shut, we are s-safe." To accentuate his point, Linus stands next to Max, looking at the group defiantly.

And yet...

Even bookish Linus had to admit that he was curious of what lay behind the door. Could it be a Narnia? Maybe a portal to another world? Or simply a door to the neighboring house... Again, as that word came up, Linus shook the thoughts aside. He knew where he stood, but it was up to the others. Just in case, he moves to grab his satchel with the load of medical supplies inside. Funny, I always thought this would be for paper cuts or burns, not a random door...

Allan hesitated, his hand on the door handle. His roommates were busy deciding on what to do.

He looked behind him, trying to gather their reactions before continuing on.

Should he open the door? Or leave it closed and hopefully forget about it?

But the fact that they were all awake and present was something else entirely.

"Guys, should I open it or not?"

Nicki watched as turmoil ensued and all of the different characters in the room took on different stances on the subject. She looked in shock as Adrian lumbered into the room with a dangerous looking baseball bat. Normally the man was a big teddy bear to her, despite his very clear masculinity, but now he more resembled a rhinoceros ready to charge. As the big guy made his way past her she could only say, "Uhm... Adrian? Is that necessary?" It was just a room after all. She didn't have a clue as to how it could have gotten there, but a room was just four walls and maybe some windows. Nothing to get a baseball out for. Still, that loud noise earlier had been pretty scary. Maybe some protection was a good idea... Still, Adrian said in a deep, final voice that he wanted the door open. It was weird the was that Adrian had just changed like this, she'd never seen him this vicious looking.

So, Nicki had started her hand toward the doorknob, almost as if it had been compelling her hand to touch it, like a positive magnet to a negative one. Her eyes were transfixed on it until her hand was forcibly pulled away by Max. She delicate woman didn't appreciate this physical action and exclaimed, "Hey! Let go! You don't have to grab me!" The woman said this with a lot of irritated inflections, her voice's pitch jerking up and down. She shot Max a glare, making a conscious note that he could have easily broken one of her nails just then. Nicki responded to Max's warning with a force. "You don't think we should go in because it feels like one of your dreams? What are you, fucking ten?" The blonde's head cocked to the side aggressively, as if she was challenging him. She heard the bit about how he wasn't dreaming and that it was real and he didn't know what to do. Max seemed really upset about the whole thing. She drew back a bit, filling her voice with sympathy in addition to her irritation. "Jesus, Max, you should really figure out that dreams aren't real before you go psycho or something."

Linus broke in with his stuttering mess. Honestly, it wasn't even worth listening through the extra five seconds it took for him to voice his opinion. Linus was a nice guy, don't get her wrong, but whenever he opened up his mouth, Nicki wished that she could click a fast forward button so that she could just get the point of what he was saying. Once the stutterer was finally finished with his cowardly reply, Nicki offered. "Well, I really don't think that's an option. Ignoring it won't make it go away and we'll have to look at it eventually." She thought to herself how silly it would be if they didn't check it out. What would they do if they all decided to not live in the flat anymore? Would they just have people tour the house and tell them 'Oh! Just ignore that room. We never opened it and we don't think anyone ever should.' It was ridiculous to think that they could just let it pass.

Allan then asked whether the door should be opened, to which Nicki said in a burst, "Yes! Just open it already. The quicker we get this done, the quicker I can go back to sleep."
