Name:
Aquila Amantea (Human component) The Parasite (the parasite component). If dealing with large groups they will generally go with Aquila as their primary name
Alias:
Us, The Pair
Age:
N/A (not due to lack of physical measurements, instead being the fault of Us simply forgetting how old they are) but they appear no more than their mid 20's early 30's at most
Super power:
Symbiosis-A result of the joining between Aquila and the Parasite, all of their power comes from their shared symbiosis and while not considered a true power alone, it has given rise to a few sub-powers that comprise Us's arsenal. They are as follow-
Enhanced condition:A result of the Parasite's joining and augmenting Aquila's body. Us's human form is boosted to what is widely thought to be near peak human levels in terms of most functions (eg, stamina, speed, reaction time, etc.) Even their strength is boosted to high levels, with bone folding like paper to them (though the strength augment is even more apparent in the tendrils utilized by Us, with their strength being able to brush brick aside like printer paper)
Chitin Plating: Almost like a hidden second form, or reactionary armor, Us can secrete a black ichor that hardens almost immediately upon leaving the skin, forming a hard protective barrier. When under heavy duress Us can, and will become completely encompassed by the ichor, leaving them sealed in what could be considered a suit of armor. In this armor Us's body appears featureless, their limbs slightly elongated with sharp claw like ends where their fingers should be, even their face is a flat featureless plain, with only one vertical eye peering out at the world around them with only the two tendrils remaining as identifiers of what they were (it is also hypothesized that this form would allow the pair to survive in space without need of a suit, due to cellular respiration becoming a completely internal affair at this point)
Unnatural Toughness:A product of the bond and peak conditions, Us is able to shrug off most minor/average wounds. Now this is not beacuse it doesn't affect them, but they seem to just be able to ignore them
Mild-energy absorption: Only possible through the tendrils, Us is able to drain living objects of life energy to kick-start the Parasitic cells in its body to repair damage. A very time consuming and attention consuming affair, Us rarely utilizes it in combat due to the dangers it poses
Bio:
A star once fell from the sky, the fire and force of its decent cracking the very air. The path of its fall carried it out over the snow covered tops of trees, disturbing the calm of the winter night below it. When it landed the star's force cracked trees apart in every direction like oh so many toothpicks, deadly splinters filling the air, where once only gentle snow flakes drifted like soft downy feathers.
But the cacophony was short lived as silence once more sunk heavy on the clear night, the fires being smothered by the cold. Still though the night was not still, a soft screeching rose from the crater of the star, soon followed by a writhing sound as a thing that had come with the star pulled itself to the lip. It was a small thing, no more than a foot long, with an almost centipede appearance, black ichor dripping from its wounds and its skin hardening. Frantically it writhed what passed for its head in the cold, searching for something, anything, that could improve its situation. In the dark its fell senses spotted something, a warm spot in the cold, a hope for the thing's survival.
Face down in the snow lay a man, perhaps a hunter or perhaps a simple traveler in the dark woods, at this point it didn't matter. Pieces of wood had replaced a coupe of internal organs and his life blood was soaking into the snow, turning it into a red slush. It was to this man the thing made its slow way, crossing the distance between the two like a worm that was slowly becoming stone, each movement a heroic labor in of itself.
When it reached the prone form the thing reached out and probed the man in the snow, its 'head' touching him up the side until it reached his ear. For a moment it stopped, almost as if it forgot its urgency the things head bobbing slightly as it held it near the mans ear. Taking in a shuddering breath, the man coughed out a word mixed with blood and bile "Yes.."
With that the thing sprang into action, rushing to the mans back and placing itself longways against his spine and began to move all its legs in rapid succession, ripping its way into his back quickly getting to bone level in a matter of seconds. After those few bloody seconds it anchored itself and drew two tendrils from its form, with which it grasped two large old trees that had remained in the landing. In moments the trees began to shed needles and bend as if dieing from the inside out, in stark contrast the form of the Parasite and Aquila healed, becoming one.
How long ago that was Us has forgotten, but it matters very little to them in truth.
In recent times however Us has felt themselves inexplicably drawn to Veridian City, and why not? It was a place in trouble after all...
Personality:
Serious, cold, uncaring are all words one would
not use to describe Aquila. Almost the complete opposite is in fact the truth, they are perpetually hopeful, warm in nature, and invested in the world around them.
Weaknesses:
Codependency: The symbioses between what was once Aquila and the Parasite is so complete, and the parasite is so ingrained into it's host's body that any removal would result with both of their deaths. That being said, any attempt at removal is considered by the pair to be some of the worst pain they have ever felt.
1+1=1: When they bonded, Aquila and the Parasite did more than become one singular physical entity. Over time their memories and thoughts bled together, slowly mixing and eroding away the individuality of both Aquila and the Parasite. Until, ultimately, both of the individuals were obliterated to create the joined entity known as Us.
This is a weakness in that any mentally debilitating attacks against Us (provided they break the natural barriers), debilitates them completely as there is no other mind to take over control of the body. Also the loss of the sense of individuality negatively hampers them in some social situations.
Moral Ambiguity: Us will do what it takes to preserve the greater good in the name of what most call 'moral good'. If this means letting 1 die to save 10, or killing to save a life, they will do it without question,
This ambiguity will often have them rubbing some heroes the 'wrong way'
Silas-wave emissions: A new, little known radiation that has been discovered in recent years, Silas-wave radiation is considered harmless to humans and animals.
All except one.
Us is extremely weak when under the influence of Silas-wave Radiation, what is thought to happen is that the radiation interferes with their symbiotic bond on a neural level, making them suffer intense pain and causing them to be unable to do much of anything until the radiation fades.
Healing-energy dependence: To use their healing factor, Us MUST use one or both of their tendrils, and the MUST drain from a living entity (plant or animal), they also MUST devote all of their energy and attention to the act
Form 2 physical limitations: Though powerful, Us's second form dose have its limitations. They are not as fast in it, their reaction time scales down a little bit, and staying in this form drains their energy and can lead to a 'mental shut down' where Us literally falls into a coma like state for a small while.
Appearance(Pictures if possible):
Normal: The person before you stands in the range of 6'00, his build shows no real evidence of physical labor (being on the long and lanky side of things). His clothing is also not really what one would expect from the hero type, being a simple set up of slightly frayed jeans, a plain t-shirt (in the back of which are two expertly cut holes through which the tendrils emerge) and a surprising lack of shoes. Dark brown hair of medium length falls randomly, both framing and getting in the way of Us's eyes. Of said eyes it should be noted that while one is a stony grey, the other is completely bloodshot, to the point that the iris is obscured. Their nose is straight and narrow with no evidence of breaking in the past. When their constantly chapped lips part, one would be able to see that Us's teeth are all needle sharp in an almost shark like fashion. All across their light skin are dark grey tattoo like lines the follow spindly paths up their arms and neck. In reality these are not tattoos at all, they are the veins filled with the Parasite's blackened blood constantly circulating through Us's system. Speaking of which, the only evidence of the Parasite is a long vertical scar on Aquila's spine (which is itself slightly raised and softer to the touch).
If they want to be incognito: though they rarely feel the need to hide their identity when preforming heroics, Us has a couple of additions to their wardrobe that help obscure them. First they wrap bandage like strips of linen around their arms and lower mouth. Then they simply encase about half of their still exposed face in chitin.
*Full Chitin form explained above*On their tendrils: Us has two tendrils made up of a more flexible form of the Chitin that extend from the area between the base of their shoulder-blades and their spine, emerging from under the skin which is pulled taught around the emergence points. Each one of these tendrils is about five feet long and is only as big around as Aquila's arm. They end in tree long sharp claws and each contain a single eye that rests at the base of the claws.
In terms of how they sit on the body, they normally fold forward under Aquila's arms or around their shoulders, almost never over the top of them due to how the tendrils emerge from the skin in the first place.
How they are used is quite simply put as an extra set of more flexible hands and an extra set of eyes when not in combat, and as powerful weapons when in combat (with their baseline strength being exampled above in the powers section). As also previously mentioned, they are also the conduit through which Us drains living things to heal themselves (with each one leaving a blistering burn in the shape of it's eye when doing so)
When needing to look more human, Us can retract the tendrils some what into Aquila's back, folding what doesn't fit in such a way that can be easily hidden beneath a jacket of some kind.
