Reason to move to Sanctuary: After watching his kind get killed through out several events in history, Hank is looking for a new start where he can live with minimal fear of being killed by a random stranger, or by a hunter. His main goal now is to move on with his life, get a new start, and still live a decent life. For how ever long that may be.
