Well, it seems a little like a Cinderella story. While kids are cruel, they usually aren't [i]that[/i] cruel, in my experience. It's mostly out of ignorance rather than actual ill-will. Which is a common cliche. Also, if the dad sorta hates his daughter because of her witch-iness, it's a common cliche as well. But if he's reluctant, but accepting, I can understand.
