There's a giant space warp storm going on in the sky right now. A giant evil red hand came from this massive space storm, and attempted to pull the planet into the Warp. Nova then ported to the Palace, his base of operations, gathered his power, and fought off the Chaos Gods by using his immense psionic powers to limit their influence on this world. He destroyed the giant hand, and prevented the other Chaos Gods from entering this reality. He then sent part of his mind into the Warp, together with a large chunk of his power, to keep them busy.
