So here's a fun question: Who's in charge of the Kiswah in this world? It's not directly relevant yet, but it's something I've been wondering about.

It could have feasibly been Egypt, but the Egyptian royalty is a man on the run and no one's heard anything from their last Sultan.

Probably local Imams, considering the state of everything else.

They'd probably need to be wealthy imams given that scripture is sewn into the covering in gold. And it's not a cover that lasts either, it's usually cut up in the end for souvenirs or to shelter some poorer pilgrims. It has to be continually re-manufactured.

It could be argued Suleiman had charge over it, but now he's gone. I'd probably venture to suggest Ethiopia should, but you never explored it so it's safe to say they're not stewards of the cover.

I'm considering one of the Scandinavian nations, or Greece, at the moment. Not too sure yet, since I wanna plan in advance a bit this time around, that way I don't get stuck again.

One possibility would be one of the remnant states of the Ottoman Empire. That would give you something to do without having all the pressure that a big country carries, and it would give us some action in the area now that Evan is a busy busy boy.

He is playing around in Istanbul though and word from him over Skype is that he is preparing a post for that. Like first shot(s) may be this post or the next.

I think I'll avoid Greece in that case, then. Since I feel like a faction Greeks wouldn't be too happy about Armenians in Constantinople, and don't want to step on any toes.

And as far as Scandinavia goes, I feel like Denmark would be too heavily policed by Germany to do much without Hugs, and Sweden is taken by Moose. So that would leave Norway, or the non-commie Finland. Neither of which really seem like they have much room for involvement with others.

So... leaving Scandinavia aside for the moment, which of the Ottoman remnant states would be best, for activity with others, as well as story flexibility? I think Palestine's history is at least slightly solidified, and I know Egypt's' is. Then Turkey proper would probably be int he same situation as Greece, and Libya i feel may eventually get assimilated.

So... Syria, I suppose? Unless there's any additional input anyone wants to give.

Edit: I was also considering trying my hand as Japan again, now that I've got the experience in nation RP's and actually know what I would be doing over there. Though I'm not sure if Japan would fall into the same realm of Britain of "Too much potential for my current posting speed." I can at least say that I know enough about the nation to write an appropriate history. That might even urge me to write more frequently. Less time spent researching, and more time spent actually writing for it.

Japan would probably be acceptable, since I don't see anybody else swooping in and pulling it from underneath China's shadow. Alternatively, there is Central and South America, where you might be able to piggyback on some of the growing western energy.

Hmm...I feel like if I were to take up a South American nation, I would end up in the same position I was in with Britain, where lack of knowledge would lead to insecurities with my writing. So I think that I'll go ahead and take up Japan, assuming Aaron is okay with it. I already have plenty of knowledge about the religion, culture, and history, so I doubt those insecurities would occur. It's also isolated enough in the PoW universe at the moment that I have time to work on my posting frequency without keeping anyone else up, and is in a position where I can still have an impact later on, once I get to posting at a normal rate.
