Like I said, I'll be choosing the people selectively. So the amount of interest on the thread does not correlate with free spaces. I'm currently out but when I get home I'll start looking at the CS's that have been posted so far.
Name: Fugo Rabbitt Species: Human Sex: Male Misc traits: Two large scars travelling across his left eye. Height: 5 foot 11 Weight: 10 stone Eyes: Brown Face: Fugo has a strong jaw and mulatto skin. His eye brows are defined and darkly coloured, with two scars travelling down the left eyebrow. Hair: Fugo's hair is rather long on the top but shaved on the bottom. The top of his hair is dyed bright green, while the rest is it's natural colour of black. Physique: Fugo has a fit physique. It's not really what you'd call a body builders physique, but he has some muscle on him that would be noticeable if he wore a T-shirt. Theme Color: Green Symbol: A sun, as generic as it sounds. Personality: One word to describe Fugo would be modest. He never takes credit for anything he does, and often tries to focus on the contribution of the team as a whole rather than that of a single member. He is quite prone to jokes, and will often try to keep his teams morale up with dumb puns and wordplay jokes he either makes up or hears elsewhere. He is extremely loyal, to the point where he'd probably help a friend get away with murder if he thought highly of them enough. His main fault is depression. Whilst he portrays himself as a happy-go-lucky guy, on the inside he is deeply depressed, and would hate for anyone to find out. Background: Fugo had a working class upbringing. His father was a miner and his mother was a baker. He was brought up with the intention of becoming a miner, but things changed after he got into a fight at school. His skill in the fight was unmatched, he was a prodigy with his fists and quickly subdued his opponent. Of course, this was no military technique, they were only about 7 or 8 at the time and really all, Fugo did was dodge and get the kid into a headlock. Nevertheless, his uncle, a hunter, took notice of this and began testing him throughout his early life to see if he had what it took to become a hunter.
The tests were long and arduous. He would have to do dumb things like smacking a training dummy for hours on end or shooting an apple from a tree branch. Nevertheless, the training paid off and his uncle saw great potential in Fugo. He discovered his semblance at the young age of 11. He accidentally made a coin a bomb and blew up a large wall after he tossed the penny away. The shrapnel from the wall cut and embedded itself into, Fugo's face, resulting in the scars he still bears to this day.
He kept on with his training though, and has recently joined a school specifically for training hunters in the hopes of actually becoming one someday. Weapon: Fugo carries a large zweihander type sword that doubles as a longbow. Essentially the blade of the sword splits into three parts that form the bow, making a sword of triangle shape with the 'arrow' being fired from the middle. Semblance: Fugo is able to turn any metal object into a bomb that can be remotely detonated at a time of his choosing. He can only make two things a bomb at anyone time. Extra:
Name: Sayuri Takashi Species: Human Sex: Female Misc traits: Height: 5'11" Weight: 145 lbs Eyes: Red Hair: She has blood red waist-length hair that is usually kept in a low long thin ponytail. Face: Looks decently androgynous. Physique: Lithe Outfit: She wears black boots, black pants with a dark red flame design below the knee, a blood red sash-like belt, a white sleeveless shirt, and white cloth bandages around her hands and lower arm leaving her fingers exposed. She also wears a necklace with a dark red dragon head charm. Theme Color: Dark Red Symbol: A Dragon head from above. Personality: She is laid back and carefree. She rarely gets sad or angry. Though once she is angry it is extremely difficult to calm her down. She prefers to hang by herself but isn't afraid to spend time with others. Though she tends to keep everyone at arms-length. Background: She was born as the eldest daughter of the head of the extremely wealthy Takashi family. A company that is reguarded as the best and largest weapons and weapon parts distributer in remnant. She was given basically everything she wanted growing up. Her father mostly ignored all his children while her mother cared deeply and speant as much of her free time as possible with them. Despite her life being nearly perfect she still felt like something was missing. She realized what it was on her 8th birthday. Her mother had taken her and her sisters out for a picnic at a local park when a group of criminals released several grim into the area. She was nearly killed by a Beowolf but was saved at the last second by a traveling huntress wielding a pair of dagger pistols. Watching the hutress fight is when she realized what was missing: a purpose. That's when she decided to become a huntress. Afterwards her mother hired the huntress to teach her. She learned quickly that it was hard work but she never gave up. She had an immense natural talent for casting so she decided to focus her learning to become a battle caster. She learned swordsmanship from her mother, hand-to-hand combat and basic casting from the huntress, and more advanced casting from one of her bodyguards. Around when she turned 13 her father started taking notice and demanded she quit training and that she was going to be married off. She refused and as a result he did many things to make it difficult for her to continue. She continued to trian until the day she applied to Beacon. Despite having no former schooling she was still accepted and ran off to attend. Weapon: Kageryu - A single bladed curved sword based on one passed down through her family. It is modified to use dust cartridges and can hold a decent amount of all four types and can mix them. It has no transformations but is nearly impossible to break. Blade colors are reversed. Semblance: Dragon's Aura - The ability to increase speed, strength, reactions, sight, and hearing. The more she increases these the more Aura she uses. She can pick to increase one of them at a time for an increased effect. It also allows her to create platforms to stand on in midair under only her feet. Extra: She has several scars from her childhood and the attack from the grimm. The most promenent being on her back being two big gashes one from each shoulder to the opposite hip. She also has numerous on the back of her hands and lower arm. She is completely ambidextrous
Semblance I'm unsure on and can move the scars from extra if you need me to.
Name: Sand Vespa Gender: Female Age: 18 Race: Human Appearance: Sand stands at 5’9’’, her athletic frame devoid of excess fat and maintained through regular exercise and training. Her skin has a dark, bronze hue, contrasting heavily with her sandy white, dyed hair. She typically wears her hair pulled back into a small, messy pony tail, but when letting it down, Sand often parts it at the center, letting the wavy, neck length locks frame the sides of her face. Her narrow, coffee colored eyes give her a permanently tired, displeased expression.
Most of her clothing consists of dark hues, whites and yellows. When in huntress duties, she will usually wear a white, open collared vest over a dark, short sleeved shirt, along with a pair of dark blue tactical pants fastened by a thick leather belt and black combat boots. Her vest has a completely black, minimalist rendition of a hornet drawn on its back.
Personality: Calm and deliberate, Sand is a very logical minded person. Despite being brought up to believe in a rigorous set of moral standards, it is very difficult to elicit a strong emotional response in her. Though this might be due to her largely introspective manner of thinking rather than a lack of feeling, it tends to lend her an aloof, cynical air. Shunning crowds in favor of small groups or her own company, most people quickly classify Sand as a classical introvert.
Some people find her sense of humor to be odd, relishing irony and the occasional, absurd occurrence in her life. She is very confident in her strength and agility, and is proud of her abilities in close combat, enjoying sparring and physical training over academic work. She also has an interest in vehicles, and occasionally takes off and drives aimlessly to pass the time.
History: Sand was the single daughter of a family of Hunters with roots in Vacuo. Both her parents were born and trained in the desert kingdom, working as Hunters in the same team until Sand was conceived. Soon after learning about the incoming baby, the pair moved to Vale and retired from active duty to take care of their daughter. For a time, they enrolled in a nearby Combat School as instructors.
As can be expected, Sand’s recollections of that time are blurry at best, though to her combined amusement and bafflement, she recalls being infuriatingly fussy, stubborn and capricious when she was little.
When Sand was around 5 years old, her parents made the decision to return to their duties as Hunters, and would often leave Sand under the care of a friend of the family who worked as a car mechanic while they were gone. One year later, catastrophe struck. An accident befell a team of hunters out in the field. Sand’s parents were among the casualties. She remembers a lot of crying, and disbelief at the idea that her parents would not return to her.
It was later discovered that her parents, knowing the dangers of their profession, had drafted a will leaving all their possessions to her. Since neither her father nor mother had any family in Vale, the mechanic was nominated as her legal guardian.
The mechanic provided her with a home and, once Sand began to recover from the shock of her loss, a surrogate father figure. Soon enough, she began taking interest in the things he did, and the man was eager to show her some tricks of the trade. However, he was never married, and rarely brought women back to their home, meaning that he had to take on both the role of a mother and father in Sand’s eyes. Later in life, he told her that one of his worries while raising her was the fact that she only had grown men around her at home while growing up.
Once she was old enough, she asked the mechanic to enroll her in a combat school. Considering the profession that had brought her parents to an early grave, and her apparent interest in his trade, the sudden request came as a shock to him, but perhaps it was only natural for the girl to wish to tread her parents’ footsteps.
Eventually, Sand began her combat training.
The beginning was difficult, with Sand struggling to master the use of aura and discover her semblance, but once she got her feet under her, the rest came naturally. Soon enough, she had completed her preliminary training and been accepted into Beacon.
Weapon: Orc Fists: Sand’s main weapon consist of a heavy pair of black-coated, plated gauntlets that cover her arms up to the elbow. They are designed to protect her arms and lend extra weight to her blows.
A box like object is attached to the top of the forearm, reaching from the wrist to a bit below the elbow, with two slits facing forward in the same direction as her fist. Sharp, half-foot long blades can be shot out as projectiles from these openings, or brought out to act as claws. Sand prefers using the blades for ranged attacks, as she is more proficient at fist fighting, but she occasionally uses the claws as sword-breakers when fighting human opponents in order to surprise and disarm them.
Along with a supply of blades, these boxes hold space for electric dust canisters, cables and winches which can be attached to the blades before firing. This allows for extended range of movements in some environments, and allows her to shock unsuspecting enemies.
When not in use, the gauntlets retract and fold over the boxes, forming case-like objects that can be attached to her belt at the hips.
Semblance: Sand has the ability to generate attractive or repelling forces between a part of her body and another object in very close proximity. This allows her to climb sheer surfaces, stick to ceilings, and add force and range to her strikes. It can also be used to get an iron grip on someone or something, or, if she so wishes, to hover a few inches off the ground, though she lacks a method of propulsion once she does this. The ability can be used on her whole body as a barrier, but the energy and focus spent on this is rather pointless considering a Hunter’s aura passively protects them as it is.
When active, this semblance is active, her aura manifests as pale yellow particles floating around the affected objects. The quantity and movement speed of these particles depends on the energy put into the semblance. A sudden, powerful force may appear as a flash of sparks.
Okay! Character thing. I’m specifically looking at characters I have some issue with, so if you don’t see your name on here you don’t really need to change anything. I will still be giving a little time for people to change characters a bit or new character sheets to be posted, but I’ll probably decide who’s accepted tomorrow evening so we don’t spend too much time stuck on character selection.
@Scarifar: I like the character for the most part, but the weapons seem a little bit excessive. I don’t know how willing you are to modify the character, but a few things I’ll point out: Weapons in RWBY seem to be aura-powered, so there’s no real ammo limit except the users own aura, and the drain seems to be insignificant. ‘Ammunition’ is really in the form of dust used to modify your shots with elemental stuff. A sort of revolver shaped weapon containing dust cartridges might fit the sort of steampunk feel of the character, as well. As far as the other weapons, Mr. Invincible just seems like a little bit too much extra and unnecessary. Bloodseeker also seems fairly unnecessary as the same function could be achieved using his arm. (I also think extra arm transformation things would be neat, but that’s purely my opinion.)
@Mr_Pink: Character looks fine but how exactly does the semblance work? Is there a limited range or could he designate something as a bomb and then detonate it from the other side of the world? Do larger objects drain more aura? Is there an ongoing aura drain while an object is designated but un-detonated? It has the potential to be very very powerful so I’d need a little more refining on how it works before I was comfortable accepting him.
@Lazo: Your character is one of my favorites so far, and is pretty close to a shoe-in for a spot except you said you weren’t sure you’d be able to post regularly. If nothing else, I’d like some confirmation that you could post regularly during the early game, because that’s when it runs out of steam the fastest if someone has to leave.
Weapons are definitely not aura-powered. Ruby is seen multiple times to load clips into Cresent Rose, and Yang loads ammo into Ember Cecila during the Yellow Trailer. Weiss' Myrtenaster is clearly shown to use a revolving chamber filled with various forms of dust. But enough about that.
Your understanding of dust ammunition, if I am reading this correctly, involves dust being filled into cartridges, like how our bullets are filled with powder, which is how I expect it to work as well.
Moving on to my weapons. Mr. Invincible too much? Try telling that to Nora's Magnhild, a giant warhammer / grenade launcher. Mr. Invincible simply has a pure defense / pure offense build, unlike Magnhild, both forms of deadly, deadly destruction. There's also, of course, Cresent Rose, a giant scythe / sniper rifle. Very deadly, especially in the hands of a skilled user, which Ruby is, of course.
Bloodseeker I don't see how it's unnecessary. It's a good weapons to use when you don't want to be lugging around a rocket launcher, plus there are only so many things you can do with a robotic arm, even in the Rwby universe, and I've already got enough functions in there as I possibly could, imo.
@Little Mx Inferno I wish I could promise a daily post, but if I did, it would probably either eat into my work time or result in short, lousy posts. I can promise commitment, but not posts as frequent as you'd probably like. It's fine if you'd rather not deal with that, though. It's always rather annoying when the whole RP has to slow down to accommodate for one person, and I at least got to make time to write down the character.
@Scarifar I have a feeling the issue is not so much with the weapons themselves, but with the number of weapons your character is carrying. Most characters in RWBY have a single weapon that transforms, or a single weapon that splits into two, or two that combine into one, and maybe a shield if they're feeling greedy. If we count everything you listed in your character's weapon section, he has four separate weapons. Three if we consider Bloodseeker and Hospitality to be part of the same set.
Yeah, you're absolutely right on the aura weapon thing, I was misremembering what Pyrrha said. Lazo hit the nail on the head though, you just have two many separate weapons.
I make up for that by having a non-combat semblance, simply using it to store said extra weapon.
Even taking into account the extra weapon, Bloodseeker is not much more than a pointy metal stick, and Hospitality isn't powerful enough to do any significant damage to someone, especially with aura protection.
I'd say it deactivates if he gets further than a little over half of a football(soccer) fields distance from the bomb. And yes, larger objects do drain more aura but I doubt I'll ever have him make anything other than small things like pennies and whatnot bombs anyway.
Okay, sweet. Glad to see that my character was A-okay from the start. I was fully expecting to have to make some sort of modification, but I'm very content with this.
Well if spots are indeed open, here's a cs. If not then I guess I can take it elsewhere~.
Name: Shade Dennin (Name can be changed to fit teams) Species: Human Sex: Male
Symbol:This Personality: Shade is very quiet and reserved, choosing to not interact with people through speech much. Though Shade comes off as shy and skittish, he does follow orders exceptionally well, no matter who issues them, as long as the request is reasonable and does not conflict with any rules he has to abide. He has a very strong interest in machines and Dust, usually the only two things he will ever willingly discuss with anyone.
History: Shade comes from a small family of three: His mother, father, and him. Shade had always been quiet and polite from the first moments of his life, rarely causing trouble and never speaking out of turn. His father, a member of the Atlesian Military, helped to shape Shade's quiet and obedient attitude through his involvement in the military, acting hard on his son to make sure he developed in to a respectful and disciplined young man. In contrast, Shade's mother was very easy on his son, schooling him herself. She was very patient when it came to school work, never needing to ever push Shade, as he learned quickly and took a special interest in learning the mechanics of robots in every day life as well as the military, as well as the history of Dust and it's many uses.
At around age ten he was able to successfully combine Dust and fabric, a favorite pair of leather gloves that he usually wore around, imbuing them with the properties of Fire. He soon learned he had a knack for fighting, his father deciding that the gloves his son had made would prove to be an interesting weapon in combat. Through his experience in the military, Shade's father was able to teach his son some basics of combat. As Shade was able to learn so quickly, his parents decided that he would make a talented Hunter. With Shade's approval, his parents enrolled him in Signal Academy.
While at Signal, he began to build his own machines, letting his interest in robotics shape for himself. He was able to easily craft machines out of crude materials that he would find around campus. Soon he decided that using these in combat would provide a distinct advantage for him as he squared off against larger opponents who would no doubt overpower him. Soon his passion for machines had spread throughout the school, gaining him unwanted popularity as he graduated from Signal to Beacon, bringing all of his fame and machines with him.
Weapons: Fire Gloves - A pair of leather gloves that he can ignite by striking his fists together. The Dust inside of them allows the leather to burn forever as long as the Dust is present. Not only do the ignited gloves give his fists extra punch, but he can also fling exploding fire balls from the gloves as an effective projectile.
Robots - Shade has a plethora of small robots at his disposal that each have varying uses, such as firing ammunition, tracking movements from afar, and even latching on to targets and exploding. Shade can only fit three of these small robots in his jacket at a time, allowing him to have a versatile fighting style.
Semblance: Robot Manipulation - Shade is able to easily create his own robots using a very minimal amount of materials, as well as analyzing other robots at a glance to find uses, strengths, and weaknesses. He can also control his own robots through his Semblance, eliminating the need to program them.
Hm, I don't know if I should be disappointed I won't be playing Sand, or relieved I won't have to push myself to post frequently. Anyway, good luck to those who got in.
Team naming comes next. Team... Fuselage (FSLG) maybe? Gonna be hard to get a color out of it. Good luck with that. Hope for minimum name changing.
