These slaan have a mental acuity of such greatness that they can be ready to join the council after only as much as ten ears of growing up.A slaan's lifespan is a mystery, as no one really remembers any dying of things other than disease or violence, and some members of the council have been around for as long as event he oldest lizardfolk can remember. No lizardfolk out of their own caste is allowed a voting role within the council for any reason, though appeals by the populace are allowed to be made and decided over by the council. The lizardfolk are however, a race divided into several subraces or castes, as they are often called. The aforementioned caste of leaders are referred to as slaan.Humanid toads of which average is about 2M in height and weighs a hundred odd kilograms. Despite their impressive girth, their main strength ies in the mind. Slaani have a prenatural disposition to psionics and arcane magicks, and all of them have at least a basic understanding of these types of supernatural power. The second caste are the saurus, they have an appearance much like slightly humanoid raptors and towering above the average human with their lean, muscled 2,50M physique. Weighing in about 80Kilograms, their claws and teeth can rip the average person person to shreds with ease. The saurus are the warriors and defenders of lizardfolk society, armed with weapons made mostly with sharpened obsidian and getting by mostly with their naturally hard scales rather than any sort of manufactured armor. The third caste are the skinks. The most intelligent of the race besides the slann, . They are physically unimposing but their steady hand and focused mind make them good workers, administrators. Their small stature also makes them good diplomatic envoys as few people would feel particularly treathened by them. This nontreathening stature also makes them efficient spies, an important skill to have around for a nation so militarily unimposing that conquest agaisnt them would probbly be seen as a fun excursion than an actual war. The last of the castes are the Kroxigor. Despite being the largest and strongest of all lizardfolk, they are also rather slow of mind. They are menial laborers, though it is not unheard of for them to be mobilized for battle in a time of war. [/hider] [hider=Foreign policy] The lizardfolk of goelre are part of a long-standing coalition with the fellow tribes of Jasneiya and Uscines against the Yuan-ti kingdoms of the larger landmass of Ocia. The yuian-ti have historically tried many times to conquer the small island, this because of an artifact the lizardfolk hold called the feathers of huhuacoatl. This artifact is the last remnant of the original sun god the yuan-ti and lizardfolk both worshipped in times when they were a single unified nation. About thirty years ago. The sun god huguacoatl was usurped and moslty consumed by the archdemon merghalle, A serpetine monster that warped the worship of the sun into regular sacrifices to fuel the strength of her dominion under threat of the sun blacking out. However, a fact the yuan-ti have forgotten in the chaos following this usurpation is that merghalle has not become a fully ascendant god. For that, the last remnants of huguacoatl must also fall into her infernal coils. The years of guarding what they beleive the last piece of the end of the world has made them somewhat paranoid of the outside world. Lizardfolk spies are amongst some of the most efficient in all of the islands, able to infiltrate foreing political bodies with a very low rate of discovery. However, they are also apprehensive to the prospect of antagonizing the greater foreign power too much, and so have a general policy of appeasement with most non yuan-ti factions. The arrival of the colonial powers upset the political status qou. The lizardfolk are ambivalent about this new player in regional politics. On the one hand, they could be a strong potential ally in their age-old quest to liberate their patron from the infernal hold of the yuan-ti's false goddess, but on the other hand, organizations like the eslean missionary church and the iomedaeic inquisitor order have made them worried that the mainland powers might be motivated to destroy them utterly for their devotion to huguacoatl. For this reason, they often pretend to be even more primitive than they are to these factions. Most of the colonies do not even know the lizardfolk have a spoken language or organized religion. [/hider] [hider=Military and Economic Power] Though the nation of gloeria has a relatively small army, it should still be noted how it is organized. Most of the lizardfolk's commanding military hierarchy consists of lizardfolk of the saurus caste. Though supreme leadership belongs to the slann council. Most of the lizardfolk army consists of lightly equipped skirmishers that take the most advantage of the inner island's mountainous terrain, though a small cavalry force also exists to harras the enemy in the flatter parts of the island. The army is completely defensive, as offensive wars are simply not considered viable, for this reason, there is also no real military anvy to speak of. When it comes to economy, the lizardfolk are mostly self-sufficient. Trade with mainland merchants is minimal, for they do not want the colonies getting the idea there's any valuable resources on the island worth conquering it for. Agriculture yields only hard and tasteless crops, and the only real meat to be had comes from the bountiful fish in the sea around the island. [/hider]
