I'm wondering if Adalaide and Hadrian have met before, being both old even for vampires, and if so if it was during Hadrian's stint as renegade sire-killing vampire who hunts monsters or in the posterior enlightment phase where he learned meditation and martial arts and mellowed out.

The vampire-hunting-vampires phase is why i didn't consider him fitting in the Blackbloods.
