Jack Orpheus | Brewing Storm Mission

"Agreed", he commented as he strode over to the terminal. Everyone was quite cautious around the terminal for some reason and it didn't sit well with him. Grimm can't use pieces of equipment like this, unless there was some kind of massive intelligence evolution. This had to be some of the survivors. He pressed the answer button and began to speak,

"We are students sent from Beacon on a rescue mission, if anyone is there, please respond", with that, he let go in order to listen to any response if there really was anyone there. If they can get a lead on one person as soon as this, they can work this to more efficiently rescue the other survivors, not to mention it might be likely these survivors know what happened, and thus they can get an idea of what they may be facing. The more information they can get before going into the unknown, the better.

Varius Gilver | Beacon Docking Bay

"So she is the exchange student?", he asked. Varius was late, he arrived to the docking bay moments after Kiran with the new team mate did. He was visibly fiddling with his katana on arrival. It looks like he was doing some cleaning and maintenance on it, thus his lateness.

"Apologies for my lateness, it had been awhile since our last mission, so I wanted to make sure this sword was up to scratch", he stated coolly.

"In any case, I am now ready to depart. Also... As I read, Noelle, according to our documents... It is as Kiran says, we are not ones to enter silently. You can be sure to have a blast if you ride with us", he confirmed to her as he strode past in order to enter the ship. While Varius was the most subtle of the team barring Noelle, whom he did not know well enough, even Varius preferred to brute force through most situations, which was what his set of skills and equipment allowed. Compared to his team though, he had the most simplistic weapon, in fact it looked incredibly outdated, but he earned his spot as the team's clean-up, and it was a well-earned spot too. Before he reached his seat however, he turned to the girl, having forgotten a basic formality,

"Ah yes, forgive my rudeness... My name is Varius Gilver, I hope we can watch each other's backs", and with that he turned back towards the ship and entered it. It was strange though, the way he spoke was serious, it appeared polite, but it was also full of some kind of arrogance, even if it did not seem that way. In any case, everyone accepted that this was simply how he spoke, since even in the least serious circumstances, that was how he was.

The microphone on the other end seemed to give off some feedback as it crackled to life, before a familiar sounding feminine voice began to speak. "Thank God you finally answered, Jack! I thought the rest of you were just going to keep staring at the flashing light until the power went out again," it said. "I'm holed up in some kind of control room with, like, a bunch of other survivors right now. There's soooo many buttons and it's super confusing, but I've figured out how to get the camera feed and the intercoms online." A camera above made a motion that looked a lot like a nod to bring the two team's attention towards it. "I swear, this place is filled to the brim with nothing but Grimm. This is the only camera I have online that isn't, at least, looking at an Ursa or a Beowolf."

The intercom made a 'click' sound, signaling that the girl had let go of the intercom button so that the Hunter teams could answer back. Then the voice came, "Oh, this is Priscilla by the way. Just in case you couldn't tell." Even though they couldn't see her, Priscilla couldn't help but give a courtesy as she introduced herself.

Noëlle Chrysos

Docking the next Flight

@Sho Minazuki@Onarax@Crimmy

Luckily for her, Kiran wasn't the bore she somewhat expected from a Beacon Senior. Though this prejudice would likely stem from the rumors revolving a certain Goodwitch in the academy. Then again they were also seen as the best of the best in Beacon, so her expectations were understandably stretched compared to her experience. At least her group leader wasn't going to be as intriguing as a wall to talk with, as she was quite the social individual herself when procrastinating. The fact that he was willing to buy her a drink more or less sold her this team, ignoring the possibility that the collateral damage group could very well be a bunch of delusional psychos and Kiran saw a ray of hope in her.

"Well aren't you just lovely. You sure do know how to please a crowd."

Noëlle chuckled and winked at the KNVS leader, visibly pleased to have free access to drinks at this point. Kiran had her approval, now for the other two. He then went on to explain the inconvenience of this group, in which she didn't pay too much mind to at first. His comment on how she talked too much amused her to the point of giggling.

"Puh-lease, you haven't seen Haven girls my friend. Besides, I'll always prefer broken records over one of those dead-eyed weirdos that don't speak to you while staring. You'd be surprised how many I see these days."

She jokingly said to reassure the tall male Noëlle already fraternized with pretty much. When the quick briefing was done, she nodded in acknowledgement and tried to process all this data quickly, mostly establishing just how much she'd actually have to do in order to get this done quick, a elegantly dressed young man entered the scene with a Katana sword well exposed thanks to his body language. She didn't notice weapons too often these days, they were all common things like hair or shoes, as such they lost their fire after a year or two in Haven. Varius' introduction however was already quite bumpy.

To start off, he didn't even address her when referring to her while in her presence. This caused her some intense eyebrow cocking, especially when he'd ramble on about his old piece of metal of a weapon she could easily tell was as old as her's. Though this interested her, Noëlle already started to scrutinize his being all the while endlessly sipping on her milkshake during the process. If she was going to live with him for a while, she may as well figure out how he ticks as soon as possible. Then he mentioned her name, prompting a:

"Yo."

With a little wave in the middle of his explanation before nonchalantly sipping again. An explanation exposed by Kiran earlier but reminded her that she'd likely have to get used to a whole new strategy than what she had back home. Although stealth was evidently a slower process, it required little physical effort once thoroughly elaborated. Noëlle wasn't too bad at these operations either, given she could get her Chakrams into a Grimm's mouth before it went berserk, essentially shredding it from the inside in a silent flash. Here on the other hand, they'd go loud and obvious from what she understood, making the process faster than the other method, but more taxing and potentially a big pain at her bottom if the foes were actually strong.

Yippee ...

The blonde thought to herself in response to the team plan, though her expression remained the same with the eyebrow just slightly lifted. Finally, he'd present himself, and as such she could put a name on his fancy hair. She actually found his hairdo to be quite the smart look, hitting a high mark in the chic levels. He also appeared to be aware that he made a mistake there, and in return she cooled off on the dubious look and returned a radiant smile.

"Nice to meet you too. That's a pretty sharp hair style by the way, bro."

The last comment was made as Varius walked out almost immediately after presenting himself. She wasn't jabbing him or anything, at the very least it would come off as another passing joke. She wasn't going to judge him based on just this clumsy introduction, after all she looked like shit herself. But there was something about his demeanor and tone that was just off. It definitely ticked off someone observant such as her. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, and it could very well just be her silly bias toward his strange attitude. She'd shrug it off, although Varius was on the top of her list of "People to assert".

"So, Boss-man-Khan, that's two. Should we wait for Taidan inside? I got the name right, right? Well anyway, I'll just ... Drop this off, yeah?"

She tailed Varius not too far behind after the wave of questions she threw Kiran's way, only to drop off her duffel bag in the luggage section. She didn't venture too far away from the craft's entrance as she wasn't sure what her new boss was going to do about their third member. She wasn't going to lie, she was very interested in meeting this supposed pyromaniac that caused them a bunch of trouble with the administration. He sounds like fun.

Estelle Sidos Heurassein - Defending a Caravan

Estelle felt the Death Stalker crumble underneath her added weight and her blade pierce it truly. She wedged her blade between the carapaces perfectly, with a warm smile she took hold of her sword, twisting it until it pulled free. She looked over to Sterling who seemed to be okay, she gave him a chuckle when he called her babe. She waved at him, before realizing that her two teammates had not faired as well as Sterling and herself had.

She watched as he attempted to save their teammate, which only made Estelle realize there was one unaccounted for. She scanned the surrounding for Sarina and as soon as she saw her, she took off. She heard Sterling call out to her telling her what she had already chosen as a course of action. She saw the five Nightmares and immediately began preemptively increasing her weight. She had a semblance of an idea on how to defeat them while protecting Sarina.

She barreled into one of the nightmares, attempting to push it onto its side, leading with her blade. She knew that for her and Sarina to stand a chance against the Nightmares, she had to thin their numbers quickly. Estelle planned on strengthening her weight in order to hold her ground against the potentially charging Nightmares. Estelle felt her body collide with the dark hide of the Nightmare and silently cursed under her breath. When Bianca had told her of the wonders that Beacon held, this was not one of them.

Sarina Tala Dei – Team JESS - Defending a Caravan

Sarina did not expect the air current to shift her away from the caravan when she dropped down. An unlucky fate for her as she realized she fell into a group of nightmares. They surrounded her as Sarina was on the ground, looking at them as observed her with a killing intent. Of course she had her sword… Wait where did I lose it when the air current shifted. She clenched both of her hands into a fist, nothing;

Arbiter/Torment was not in her hands. Damn it had been with her since she started Haven as she cursed under her breath the loss of it though there was no time to lament its disappearance… [1]

And Sarina saw Estelle ram her body into a nightmare. She immediately took this opportunity to activate her semblance as the nightmares would focus on her and charged up her body quickly and went into the hand-to-hand combat stance she used. With Estelle weight pushing down on one nightmare; it would make her an easy target for the remaining four. One charged at her and Sarina with blinding illuminating speed landed a punch on the body of that nightmare to use it hooves to pummel Estelle. That punch sent it off into oblivion, that only god knows where, seeing the stellar burning light engulf it in the distance.

Sarina then focused her sight on two nightmares charging at her and like nothing she launched two medium stellar bolts [2] at the charging nightmares, sounding off like a military class rail gun as it sent them off flying…into oblivion…again…disintegrating in the distance. She turned her head to the final nightmare that was…running away. It was a common move by her foes when they view the goddess in action. Sarina made an egotistical half-smile firing off another shot, ending the existence of a fleeing nightmare.

Sarina then turned her attention to the last nightmare being crushed by Estelle. “Thanks for being the bait while I finished off the others” making an egotistical half smile towards her. She crouched down to the nightmares head and punched it with strength, pummeling it into the dirt, as its head began disintegrating. “You should get off from it; I don’t want you to get burned again…oh and I lost my sword. If you find it, then inform me.”

Vega Venetia – Team VGNB - Outskirts of the City

The modern lights of the city shined in the distance, the location where Bianca was held at by Dodici Cosca. Scum. Maybe ironic from the connections she supposedly had but in her mind they were rumors. [1] Nonetheless she had been waiting for this moment despite the fact this would considered a suicide mission for a beginning team. After all they had each other and she was grateful for Ozpin in pulling the strings to go on this personal mission.

“Gratia and Napoli you lead the attack. With the amount of bullets that are going to fly, that redirection” as she nodded to Napoli “is going to be needed. Me and Beryl will take the shadowy route to find Bianca.”

Shuai Taidan - Beacon Docks

It would not take Noëlle too long to encounter the aforementioned supposed 'pyromaniac' of Team Canvas, for sitting casually within the ornithopteric aircraft that would take the squad of Hunters to the locale of their mission was the ever-enthusiastic Shuai Taidan; pretty-boy extraordinaire, crowd control specialist and a youth voted "Most Likely to Become a Fashion Designer" by his past classmates for his exuberantly large wardrobe and tendency to switch outfits on a single dime. Yet despite the last of those qualities, the twenty-one year old was remarkably restrained in his appearance on this fine day, having, to the likely shock of the members of his former boy band-esque team, defaulted to his customised school uniform, and was now almost somebody who would not immediately stick out in a crowd.

The key word of course, being "almost".

Despite his military-like attire, there were a certain number of traits that would ensure that he would be quite the object of notice amongst the myriad of unique individuals that populated the city of Vale. Framing his handsome and delicate face, for example, was his long, flowing hair, today differing from its standard, ponytailed design through the utter lack of any form of accessory, whether it be hair-ties, scrunchies or clips. The pink-streaked brown was on full display, dropping down around his shoulders like a tsunami of strawberry-chocolate syrup, the only departure being that of the two long extended parts of his fringe that dropped around his cheeks, and the simple, thin ahoge that reached out from underneath the grey gas mask that had been pulled back up from his face. Gleaming violet eyes, full of life and vigour, were especially noticeable as well, their edges creasing with humour as he fired off a dazzling grin at the girl who had just entered the aircraft.

And then there was the six metre long spear with a wicked, golden blade and blood-red horsehair tassels that was balanced precariously upon his lap, its immense girth almost impossible to fit within the width of their transport. He did have other tools of his trade upon his body, such as the six golden rings sitting peacefully in the crimson vambraces around his arms, or the wind and fire wheels that were attached to his boots, but it was his incredibly large weapon, one that was three and half times longer than his height, that would most likely be noticed.

"Hello there!"

His voice was very much the essence of honest cheer.

"I'm Taidan," continued the prettyboy, before pausing momentarily to adjust the position of the gas mask sitting upon his head. "Shuai Taidan. Nice to meetcha."

Ebon shrugged his shoulders at Krysthane. He didn't know anyone in the city and short of having his R-Types scout around the area, there wasn't much he could do in terms of finding clues. This was at least something. "Just don't get distracted." Ebon followed Krysthane to the Cat Nap, where there were a lot of cats taking naps. Nonchalantly he picked up one of the cats, a small kitten, and started playing with it. It pawed at his nose, and he teased it by letting it just get barely close to his face. More cats began to stir. Looking around Ebon noticed some mint, so he took a small handful and rubbed it on his hands and neck. By the time they'd actually get to the door Ebon was playing with at least five cats in his arm, and even had his R-Types flying around him letting the smaller kittens fly around. All the while Ebon kept his stoic face up, still waiting to see where Krysthane's leads were going to get them. "Who are these guys anyways?"

"Cat Nap...? Are you... are you actually trying to insult me right now...", Skyra deadpanned. The heavy smell of mint in the air drove the cat faunus mad. Despite common knowledge, Skyra absolutely hated the smell and the taste of mint and cat nip. And so the look of disgust on her face was visible as clear as day. Additionally she eyed the cats all around the place with a certain skepticism.
"This place feels incredibly eerie to me... I don't like it... It feels as if a racist put up a sign: 'Hey, you're a cat faunus, welcome home'", Skyra lamented.

Gratia Mindaro - Zephyr City Outskirts

"Don't be ridiculous."

Gratia glanced towards her leader, impassive onyx eyes lingering upon the other girl's polearm/submachine gun weapon for a second. Of all the people on Team Vignoble, Vega Venetia was the least suited for sneaking into guarded facilities. It would be utterly absurd to allow somebody with such a weapon combination and Semblance to even attempt it when Nuit's safety was at stake. Not to mention that ... fucking retarded ... plan of placing her and the cheese-eating bastard together. It had been the decision of a brainless cunt to partner them during their time at Haven, and it was even worse of an idea that they were in a dangerous battlezone.

"Stealth with your fucking weapons, Venetia?" she stated coldly. "I would've laughed at such a shitty idea if this wasn't so fucking severe."

Their target appeared to be some form of ... office building. That was something to keep in mind before they began their assault.

"Unless you want Fiordilatte to die, don't send him in first. Or partner him up with me. And remember, you won't be able to do shit without running into some other motherfucker in this type of environment."

Beryl Harken

"I can pair up with anyone." Came the soft interjection from Beryl's corner of the transport. "And I have some experience in stealth operations. My semblance makes me uniquely suited to avoiding patrols and taking out guards silently."

She looked around at the other members of the team. At first glance they looked like a powder keg waiting to explode. Beryl could tell it was far from the case. Gratia's harsh comments were all aimed at making sure that nobody died.

"What if we left Napoli outside to provide sniper support? He should be able to fire through windows and thins walls."

"Actually, I couldn't tell..."
Maybe this was some before-her-time thing. There had been a whole week to the Beacon school year she'd missed, after all, and if what Amy told her had any truth to it the student turnover rate from the school warranted its own memorial wall. Maybe this girl was one of them! She almost waved to the camera, then realized it was just a camera, then waved anyway.

"Yooo!" the BASL new girl greeted the camera, sharing an easy smile with the little piece of tech. "Not that having someone with Huntress training inside ain't handy, but...like...what are you doing here? Are you okay? Is everyone okay?"

Bit of an off question when the whole place was filled with Grimm, but hey, she mentioned tons of survivors.

Had to check.

Benjamin Lloyd

"Got it, Amy. Keep your ears sharp, I want to know if something's coming before it gets here." Ben answered calmly, flipping his tonfa in his hands once each out of habit. He couldn't hear anything himself, but he trusted his teammate's ears a lot more than he did his own. If she said something was thumping, then something was thumping. It might be a mechanical system that was still functional, or leaking fluids of some kind but in both cases then the noise would be constant. Constant and repetitive, at regular intervals. If it was being made by something living, at least as much as Grimm could be called 'living', it would not be regular. Not once they were on the move, at the very least. "Is the sound regular or irregular? If it's regular and it becomes irregular, let me know instantly. Whether you're certain or not."

"Jack, ask her what kind of Grimm we're dealing with. Even a partial list'll make this a lot easier." Bastille's leader moved easily back into his sentry point. Now that Luke and Amy were back, they could watch their cardinal points again. Still nothing was visible in his surroundings but he was more certain that something was out there with each passing moment. "Find out how many of the cameras she's got working, too. And where they're holed up. If we know where they are we can get to them, and maybe she can keep an eye on the path for us."

Brewing Storm

The open door led down a short and narrow hallway to a junction room with several exits. One led to a downward stairwell, another to a dual-purpose sterilization and hazard gear room, a third to an upward stairwell with a wall plate that read 'Living Quarters', and the last to a longer and poorly-lit hallway whose plate marked it as 'Traffic Center'. Unless this Traffic Center and Priscilla's control room were one and the same, Beacon's principal pink-haired freshman was not on this floor.

Meanwhile, Amy would find her senses bombarded. Sound came from nearly everywhere at once now, the undeniable rapping of little feet and hands on metal, tile, and concrete, but no visible sign of an enemy could be found. Even the non-faunus members of the mission could likely hear and be creeped out by the increasing noise now. Most worryingly, it came from inside the tubes, pipes, and vents that absolutely choked the building's interior and immediate exterior.

As the students made their way into the junction room, the first one in couldn't miss a telltale sign on the floor. An elderly man in a button-up shirt and black trousers sat with his back against the wall, his eyes open but devoid of life. No trace of viscera lay upon him or the walls and floor around him. All that could be seen to an observant and indelicate hunter-in-training would be abrasions around his throat, very much like human hands.

-=-=-

After leaning back from the receiver, Priscilla felt a hand on her shoulder. Straw Tickseed, one of the seven people who along with her didn't quite form a 'bunch of other survivors', could barely contain her renewed hope now that contact had been made with a rescue party. The young woman, gaunt-faced despite her rotundity, practically jumped up and down. Echoes of her enthusiasm could be seen to greater or lesser degrees among the other survivors, one of whom even seemed ready to unseal the control room door and sprint through the distillery to greet the rescuers in person. “Omigod omigod, I can't believe it! We're saved!” Straw gushed. If not kept in check, the eagerness of some of the survivors might pose a problem to the operation—particularly if they made enough noise to rouse some of the distillery's other residents.

Defend a Caravan

Sterling's move, however habitual, got the job done. The Tutankhamen shrieked as an inky black bile burst from the ravaged impact site, but given that the senior hunter needed to divert slightly from the center in order to avoid the Grimm's spinal spikes, it flew to the side rather than just being crushed. Snarling in protest, the monster tumbled off the top of the caravan vehicle, and after landing on its side it struggled to right itself.

The Nightmares, having crumbled beneath the cooperative attack of both Estelle and Sarina, served as a warning to the remaining Grimm horses. A cacophony of whinnies and screams ensued as the remaining Nightmares scattered around the vehicle broke off and grouped together to stampede single-mindedly toward the young huntresses. This left the mostly-dead bulk of the Deathstalker and a single Tutankhamen on the opposite side to harry the caravan. Perhaps observing this, the driver revved the engines, and the huge tanklike vehicle lurched forward.

A double tap of feet on metal signaled that Jorie had landed. Calling out, “we're about to get going!” to Sarina and Estelle, she aimed her claw arm at the leftover Tutankhamen and let loose a burst that knocked the creature end over end in a rather comical fashion, wailing all the while. With the second-to-last burden resolved, the vehicle took off, moving slowly at the moment but gaining speed rapidly despite the Deathstalker draped across it.

Paying no mind to the oversized arachnid proved to be a mistake for Jorie, however. Even if the Grimm monstrosity was dying, it had yet to dissolve and could still attack. By the time that the overexcited faunus turned to fire off another burst at it, the Grimm's stinger already lashed out. Jorie held up her claw arm to block, yet flew backward nevertheless when the poisonous time broke her aura in a single shot. The next moment, her small body impacted the caravan vehicle's smokestack, and instantly the faunus fell unconscious.

Only a small window remained for everyone present to both secure their position of the vehicle and to ensure that the rising wind didn't send Jorie's body flying backward into the empty desert.

Estelle Sidos Heurassein - Defending a Caravan

Estelle nodded at her team leader when she said that it was time to move out. She lightened her body weight and raced towards the caravan, her muscles easily able to propel such a small amount of weight forward with a great amount of speed. Before she could say anything or stop what had happened in front of her she noticed Jorie raise a claw arm in order to shield herself from the blow of the arachnid-like Grimm in front of her. She knew before Jorie had hit the caravan that she would be out.

“Sterling, Sarina, cover me!” Estelle said leaping into action. She dug into the dirt, shifting her body in order to face Jorie’s direction and took off running, kicking up a large amount of dirt in her wake. She raced towards her goal, and leapt out at her captain in order to grab her. Time seemed to slow itself as she managed to get her grasp on Jorie.

She felt her Aura leave her own body and start to envelop Jorie, leaving her completely open to attack, little by little as the two were seemingly encroached upon by their enemies. She analyzed as she was forced to wait for her aura to cover Jorie before she would be able to adequately carry the girl. As soon as she felt her Aura encompass the girl’s body completely, she stuck her sword in the ground. She had still been running and on an unstable surface such as the dirt commonly found in scrublands like these. Estelle stabbed her blade into the ground, using it to redirect her momentum towards the caravan. As long as Sterling and Sarina could cover her she would be able to leap onto the back of the rear vehicle with her captain in toe.

Kiran Ali Khan - Mission Start

"Well, then it'd probably be in everyone's best interests if I don't meet these Haven girls. After all, I'm not sure the world could withstand such excessive blabbering." Kiran quipped back right before Noelle received the honour of meeting the prideful swordsman on the team. Good old Varius Gilver, always at a loss when it came towards first impressions. Then again, at least this time the swordsman realized his mistake and apologized. It was progress at least.

"I apologize on behalf of my teammate," Kiran was quick to add after Varius' departure into the shuttle, "He's a bit lacking in the social department but he means well. As for the flurry of questions," Kiran chuckled as he followed after Noelle into the shuttle, "Taidan, the name was indeed correct, should already be awaiting us inside. And yes, feel free to leave you stuff on the ship."

No sooner had Kiran finished answering the flurry of questions, did Taidan make his own introductions. In stark contrast to Varius, Taidan was practically beaming with positive energy. Not that Kiran expected anything less from the team's token pretty boy and pyromaniac extraordinaire. The boy's exuberant nature was infectious and omnipresent.

"I'll leave the two of you get acquainted."

Kiran interjected as he made his way into the back of the ship where his gauntlet and sword awaited him. Mehri and Sharaman, it'd been far too long since he'd had the pleasure of wielding them in battle. Donning Mehri on his left arm and sheathing Sharaman on his back brought a sense of comfort that Kiran had sorely missed. The two were extensions of his own being and they were finally back in their rightful place. In a word, Kiran felt whole again.

A grin spreading across his face at the prospect of the hunt, Kiran made his way towards the front of the airship as he signaled for the pilot to begin his ascent. It was time for the mission to begin.

Napoli Fiordilatte - Time for War

"Gratia"

A voice hissed through the airship, cutting through Gratia's barrage and Beryl's feeble attempt at placation. The voice carried a simple message with it:

Shut up.

It was the first time since reading the letter that Napoli had spoken, but the Mistrali Hunter had little intention of allowing his faith to be determined without his consent. Much less allow his faith to be determined by the trigger happy Gratia while Bianca's life was on the line. Rescuing their teammate required tact, something the team's berserker lacked.

"Beryl, while I appreciate your attempt at a peaceful solution, I'm not sitting this one out." The duelist asserted before turning his attention towards Vega and Gratia, "And the fact that both of you appear to be forgetting, is that I'm only one out of us three with any capacity for stealth. I don't carry a dagger for show. Beryl and I will infiltrate then signal you in once Bianca's been located."

"After all, I'm not letting Bianca die cause we got trigger happy and alerted every guard in the town."

The solemn weight his words carried was abnormal for the generally carefree jokester, but right now his mind was focused on a single solitary objective: Rescuing Bianca. And the Hunter-in-training would be damned before he allowed careless actions to cost his teammate her life. They were going up against the Dodici Cosca, and while they may have been a bunch of dirty lowlifes, that didn't mean they weren't a threat. They would pay for their transgressions, but only after Bianca was safely by their side.

Luke Schwarz -- Investigation

He blinked.

Priscilla Montgomery.
One of the three missing members of Robert's old team--
For some reason, is here.
Stuck in the Distillery, of all places.
The plot isn't just thickening-- it's growing stranger.

He mentally made note to keep a track of these things in the back of his mind-- if nothing else, this mission would be quite the story to tell around the lunch table, or campfire, or text back home. It certainly never hurt to keep track of a mission's progress in any case, and should something continue the trend of "new factors in the game", it would behoove him to take note, and perhaps even use it alongside previous evidence to attempt to determine a pattern.

Would this be a time where Mom would tell me I'm beginning to think like a Hunter?
Or perhaps I'm putting too much though into it...

While it would be neither the first nor the last case in either respect, he returned focus to the matter at hand, Gazing through the low light of the facility hallway into the junction room beyond.

With a small start, his eyes widened as they laid upon an old man, slumped against the wall. Someone was in there! Granted, it wasn't certain if they were dead or merely unconscious, at least at this distance, with this lighting, and this lack of overwhelming evidence. If he wanted to properly understand the old man's circumstances, he would need to take a closer look.

A closer look that would require going right up to him. This far away, he could even properly tell if the old man was breathing. With this in mind, he aired the idea simply.

"There's somebody in the room ahead. If someone could keep an eye on me, I can go check it out real fast."

A risky maneuver, undoubtedly. Splitting off from the group was by far the number one way to offer oneself up on a silver platter. He knew that, for despite his general, habitual, almost natural penchant for erring towards the incompetent and foolish end of the scale, he was still not so uncultured as to hold any belief that ran counter to what was commonly understood by those as young as toddlers to be a bad move.

Which is why he had prepared for the extremely likely occasion of having the offer refused with a compromise: he would be to maintain visual and verbal contact at all times during the short trip to and from the junction room, perfectly willing to narrate his actions to the group as a whole in real time while never leaving the watchperson's line of sight.

You have to admit, that's at least the token step further than the bar set by fiction.

Sterling Johnson -- Teammate Defense.

"On it!"
he gruffly barked in response, spilling out the entire pouch of ball bearings into the air. Snapping Nuada's fist back into place, the robotic limb unsheathed it's blade with a swift click, adding a new dimension of deadliness into the constructed limb, which would serve him well as soon as something got past that familiar whirlwind of steel that was now surrounding him.

In the meantime, even as he latched on with a free hand to the "floor", he kept his eyes squarely upon Estelle as she made a quick bid for safety, ready to fire off more of the little bullets as soon as something even appeared to consider going after the two.

Cian Kuze -- A brewing Storm

Hearing what Luke said Cian couldn't help but blink she heard some odd ideas and some pure stupid ideas but that was something she did not know how to classify. Logically speaking it was wise to check up on the old man making it a sound idea however on the other hand splitting up in a situation like the one they were in was a pretty dumb idea since you don't know what might happen. Things was either or at the moment and right now she did not feel like staying and seeing how it plays out because a conclusion could not be reached. "Luke while I can understand where you are coming from with a idea like that I can't help but think it would be best for a better solution than just sending two people to check on someone given the situation. So in this case I am going to have to say that it would be best left to a vote on how things should be played out." Cian said as she let her eyes dart around the room looking for any sudden movements.

Gratia Mindaro - Zephyr City Outskirts

"Triggerhappy?"

Gratia Mindaro laughed. A low, harsh growl of a laugh. It was not a particularly nice laugh. She threw her head back, her hissing cackles escaping into the air. What an utter fucking joke. Oh, she was relishing the opportunity to punish every single one of the rabid dogs in the facility, but she could wait for that. Oh, yes she could wait. The bastard was delusional if he thought she would cross the entirety of the Dodici Cosca head-on without thought. They'd all fall to her eventually, but she could wait. She could wait as long as it was needed. She knew what was at stake, and he should fucking know that she knew as well.

"Oh, I'm not letting you sit this one out, you shitty excuse for a prettyboy," she snarled, onyx eyes piercing into her partner's with immeasurable intensity. "In fact, you can have aLl ThE FUn yOu WAnT with that sissy little knife of yours~"

He was, no matter how one saw it, the most suited to this task. A task in which he could actually be of any fucking use. She could share, let even a cheese-eating son of a bitch like him carve a pound of flesh from the rats they were to exterminate. It would be fun. Really.

"I desire to see to the success of this mission," continued the Mistralese huntress, her grip tightening against her weapons. "Make yourself useful, Napoli Fiordilatte. Show me that you aren't a pathetic waste of space. Show me the very best of your mediocre abilities. Show me the supposed skill that placed you on this team."

She bared her teeth in challenge. The edges of her mouth curled upwards into an animalistic grin.

Her eyes smoldered with fire.

"Show me that you can save Bianca Nuit."

Noëlle Chrysos

In the Airship

@Crimmy@Onarax@Sho Minazuki

Noëlle didn't feel as bad about judging Varius once her leader clearly confirmed that the guy wasn't the most enjoyable of people and that she was lucky to catch him on a good day. That wasn't a hue issue, the blonde of the team had already handled a few social baskets in her school life and this guy didn't seem to be particularly bad with all things considered. With the boss' consent, she left her bag where he intended to put it and proceeded to find the pyromaniac of the squad.

Well not quite, her sight was not captured by the person in question but by the weapon he balanced on his lap like some kind of Shaolin Monk doing some random, crazy exercise. The first thing that came to mind when seeing that massive staff wouldn't be fire lover or crazy destroyer of the team but rather compensation jokes around his need to have such a big tool. She didn't find it bizarre, as ridiculous weapons were a common sight among hunters these days, but it still came as a surprise that he didn't at least have it in a more compact form to move around. Or maybe he was just showing off. A pyromaniac showing off what he's packing, seemed to fit the bill. But as she got to study his frame a little more, the absurdity that was Taidan became a lot less clear than what she had envisioned.

His clothes seemed negligible given his notoriety and the general diversity among Hunters in Remnant, but it was his face that made Noëlle question her thoughts on him. Okay, he had a gas mask, that screamed psycho killer more than anything, but otherwise he seemed relatively normal, heck he was handsome. An eerie Ted Bundy feel came in mind, perhaps he was one of those charismatic psychopaths. Then again he'd likely be kicked out of school if psychological tests were to determine that. The positive presence he had, especially when greeting the newcomer, did make Noëlle feel a bit better. So in total, with every contradicting idea and impressions she was giving him as well as his almost effeminate appearance, only one term could clearly define this kind of living enigma.

Definitely gay. Or he's a troll.

All definitions of the term applied to this young man, and she didn't feel bad for thinking it. It wasn't like she was going to go around and call him random things from the get go. Instead, she'd very lazily squat down under the massive staff's shaft so she could grab a seat next to the ray of sunshine of the team. There was something inviting about him once she got through the serial killer prejudice.

"Hey there Taidan. Guess you already know my name so ... Yeah. Wait, have we met before?"

The inquiry was definitely strange as she had likely never met him before, but his features and body language reminded her of something she had seen more than once. Chances are pictures of his particularly magnetizing appearance circulated in various internet media she'd spend most of her hours on. But because she wasn't actually a massive fan of such trends, she didn't really know if her hunch was true or not, maybe he just looked like one of those pretty boys young girls these days get all fuzzy about.

Then came the leader, fully equipped with what seemed to be his weapons. She appeared to be the only one without some flashy tool in plain sight. Not that it mattered, carrying such big stuff would only add more weight to her attire and thus make hunting a whole lot more of a pain than it should be. On his order, the airship would take off. Noëlle's lethargic composure would cause her to go complete rag doll during the initial takeoff, after all it wasn't the softest moment of the flight. Her body would collide with Taidan's, quite unfortunately knocking off his gas mask in the process.

"Ugh shit, sorry."

After going through one air flight, she wasn't in her best. She looked left and right after regaining her composure to see if the mask had fallen somewhere nearby or perhaps Taidan's strange ninja skills from beyond had saved the day here. At least he didn't get a bunch of milkshake all over his pants and crotch.

"Can't say I'm a fan of these ships. Oh hey, want one of these? I mean after this awkward stuff, I guess my only choice now is to buy myself into the group, right?"

She jokingly claimed as she took out a few bars of chocolate from her skirt's pocket. Most were flat and evidently not that big since they all fit in her pocket, but they were reputable treats from Haven that were always a delight to have once in a while. She also waved at Kiran, offering him the same deal as she took a sip from her shake kept safely on her other hand. If Varius wanted some, he could come right ahead, she wasn't going to discriminate him on the grounds that he was a confirmed asshole by his leader.
