Then the male is expected to pay for all dates, meals and supply of gifts. Asking or wanting the female to do her fair share is 'ungentlemanly' and frowned upon - and just cause for instant dismissal as 'not being compatible'.

No but while agree that modern customs are stacked against most average looking guys, nobody ever got a girlfriend by complaining.
