Hello,

I don't know if this is a good idea or not, (WAIT, don't stop reading, if I thought it wouldn't work, I wouldn't have posted this.) I have never played a Table-Top RPG in real-life or in a forum but, I have an Idea for a story and a system I am working on so, I am going to try it. I am going to put a brief description here and if I can get enough people interested, I'll go into detail and put in more thought. Okay, here we go:

You are a fighter, adventurer, a luck-brave-idiot, or something of the type. You're world is in great turmoil because the 8 races/nations (Dwarfs, Elves, Nymphs, Humans, Gnomes, Goblins, Halflings, Djin)and are at war. It looks like there is going to be a bleak end to the life of everything so, you deicide that you need to either gain favor of, or take over the nations to bring peace. You know you're going to need help so you are going to have to find and, prove yourself to, people to form a team. Will you bring peace? Are you going to be a wise ruler or forceful dictator? Will you survive?
EXTRA: This point of the game is to rule all eight nations. It will have a little Pokémon flavor with making your team and then a more Rouge RPG and conquest while you try to take over. You'll be able to choose the weapon of you're character and level them up. You'll also be able to choose the race and class of you're first character.
P.S. I think I will hae a player cap of 5.

If this works I will make/work on: A map, stats and what they will affect, a weapons shop, quest, more interaction between players, game mechaniscs, character sheet, and more.

What sort of race is an "its", did you meant ents? Slight interested, though it lacks too many information for any decision. Are the players cooperating? Is the world only made of eight kingdoms? If everyone holds a team won't that bog down the rp with 25 characters(supposing a 5 member team for every player, with 5 players total) acting on the same turn?

Any advice is invaluable to me. So, to clear things up; First, when I put the race "it" I was trying to be funny and was probably going to do something like random stats at start, but since it is causing confusion and making me look lazy, I'll change it, then second you will only control your character and then use the other characters to fight when one dies. I might have it where you can choose which character is the leader and you mainly control them. Do you know what info and parts I should add to clarify more?
P.S I think the parts you can go to will only be the 8 kingdoms and a no-mans land wear you can explore. I'll make a map before next week.

Based on your explanations then the other team members will work like facsimile lives with different stats from your first character? Makes me remember those games with dynasties where you groomed an heir for when your general died.

You still didn’t answer if all players would fight together (and if so how to “distribute” each player function [everyone fighting or would there be, say, a place for a cloak and dagger approach) to conquer all territories or if it would be pvp-based (which could become pretty aggravating for the losing players). Beyond that, without the rules to analyze, I only imagine these:

How do you plan pacing the rp: How long would it take to acquire a territory to wage war against the others, would there be an emphasis on gaining favor or that would only be necessary to acquire the first land?

If players can select their races and every country is defined by one, then obligatorily they have to start from their homeland? Wouldn’t a nation, with say, three territories be boggled down by rebellions of the conquered nations too much to have any army to spare to the front lines?

(maybe I’m thinking too much, besides the more variables a tabletop game has the more complex it becomes).

(Sorry for typos, my lil bro wants the computer back.)

I will probably have your team just travel around with you, but I might add a payment or food factor.( I have added some more depth to players on the main post.)
I am still working on how the fight system will work, It might differ depending on the situation you are fighting in.
Players will conquer territories by quests or a series of fights.
I am still working on player interaction. I might have a PVP option.
The turn system will work by an order of players 1 post per turn. I will create an out line to go off of while taking your turn.
I might add an army and war factor for when you own a country.
Your character will start at their home nation and probably move through dice rolling.
I don't think I will go too deep into the inner-workings of the countries but I might use how they are doing while throwing out game changers.
I think I might leave it up to the players to do most of the interacting.

P.S. I will start adding on to my main post for updates every-so-often.
P.P.S. Does anyone have experience with creating a fighting system that won't make each fight last a month?

Interested. Also, for the fight system. How about having the combatants log on to some sort of irc chat and use that? It's quick and works pretty well, but you need to figure out a time when all the participants have a block of free time.
