Kyle Lancaster
Thanks to Julian, Kyle arrived on time, clean and feeling slightly better. He changed into the approved uniforms and waited. He stuck close to his friend's side and tried not to physically flinch when he spotted Blondie again. And no, he didn't but Julian between them. If he was already there, it doesn't count. As John Stewart talked, and pointedly mentioned Kyle, he couldn't help the uncomfortable twist in his stomach. Kyle was going to die. He held his breath as teams were read out and nearly cried out Yes in joy to find he wasn't on S'tann's team and was with Julian. Since this was his first time he followed the others as they went to the waiting room. It was almost exactly as some of the older kids described it. Kyle shifted on his feet nervously. When a guy started speaking, Kyle assumed it was Aiden. Since it wasn't Kieran. He clearly listed out their objective and goals. He frowned a little as Julian got the task of deleting some drives and he was assigned to hostage duty. Kyle wanted to say something, maybe ask to switch places when the timer ran out and the door opened. In all that time Aiden didn't stop talking. Any objections team? Maybe Kyle would have voiced his if everyone didn't spill out into the open room and into the cold. Despite the fact they were in-freaking-doors. Even the stones themselves seem to radiate the chill that permeated the facility. A faint thought ran across his mind making him briefly wonder if they could freeze to death. But it was quickly pushed away as he watched everyone somehow know where to go. "I have some adjustments to the plan." Still Kieran spoke up to the remaining population of their squad. The sound of his voice froze Kyle to his spot, keeping him from wandering off. He watched the older teen list off changes he thought should be made. When he mentioned that Kyle should not be on the hostage team, a small warm fuzzy feeling filled him. Though it vanished quickly at Kent's next words. No, it wasn't to help Kyle, it was only logic. Kyle was no defense. And worse, he might hurt somebody. Kyle discretely tucked his hands into his armpits and tried to vanish from sight. As he studiously looked at the floor he tried to remember just what it was Casey had been assigned to. He hadn't remembered, too caught up in the fact that he was canon fodder. He might have asked, had Kieran not drove the fact home he was a dangerous liability. Until the cold rock wall touched his back Kyle hadn't realized he had started retreating. The sudden shock of cold caused him to jump just a little. It seeped quickly through his A.R.C. suit. However oddly enough, it was the cold that pulled him out of his spiral of self pity enough for clear thought. With a quick look Kyle spotted an exit and headed that way, intent on leaving the room. The Professor might have said this exercise was mandatory, but he refused to stick around and be told just how useless he was. Plus, what if Julian believed everyone. Hell, he didn't know what really had happened that morning. And he didn't want to see Julian turn away too. Best to leave first.
