Wait me a second. Why is it that we stay here? And if we did have prefab buildings, shouldnt they protect us? Or whats about the ship we came here in the first place. And also if you have energy weapons, pretty sure you have gauus weapons too which are basically a no brainer in a situation like this. Neglegable heat, very high stopping power, and no sound. What about all of the above?[@TheUnknowable]
Questions: "Why is it that we stay here?" As in this planet? Because we don't have the fuel to go to another inhabitable planet. Or this area? Because they are probably everywhere on it, and our resources are here. "And if we did have prefab buildings, shouldnt they protect us? Or whats about the ship we came here in the first place." Prefabs will last for a little while, the ship a lot longer, but eventually they'll make it inside and kill us. We could say that we live in the lander (an actual interstellar ship would probably be too big to land) instead of a cave. It would have certain advantages, such as having electricity already. It would radiate a lot more heat, though, which draws more of them in. "And also if you have energy weapons, pretty sure you have gauus weapons too which are basically a no brainer in a situation like this. Neglegable heat, very high stopping power, and no sound." Also a good idea, but eventually the coils heat up. Could work for a few dozen shots or more, though. Also, batteries heat up as you use them. Body heat would also give you away, but only at short distances, so we'd only have to worry about it getting hotter than 98.6 degrees F. I can change the original post to include fixes if you want. I like it when people find holes in my logic/RP premise, so I don't mind. Plus it will clarify it for the others.
